A bus driver and a ticket inspector have been fined and suspended for a few days by the BMTA after forcing a passenger to get off a city bus because he smelled bad.

The incident was filmed by a passenger. After the video appeared on social media, the bus driver and the inspector at the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority were called to account and they were allowed to explain why they forced a passenger to get off bus number 147.

The video, made by someone standing at the bus stop, shows both yelling at the smelly passenger and he has to get off the bus.

The deputy director of the BMTA Suriya Sa-iem says that the two have acted improperly. They therefore receive a fine of 1000 baht, a suspension for a few days and an official warning. The employer of the two will also be fined. Finally, the two are required to take a customer-friendliness course.

Of course it depends on how bad it smelled and why.
I can imagine that you would rather not have someone who has just fallen into a cesspool on the bus.

A film only spreads images, but not the smell.

I haven't seen the video (yet).

Were there any other passengers on the bus? How were their looks towards this incident?
Maybe the bus was empty… Or were all the seats near that passenger empty… That can be telling too…

At the very least I would have stayed away from that passenger. Rather 10 neat passengers on the bus than 1 smelly…

If someone really stinks, he belongs in the shower and not in the bus

Maybe he was on his way home to take a shower after a hard day's work.

Or he doesn't have a home or shelter or maybe he's confused or whatever. Everyone wants to be treated normally. Please show some respect for a fellow human being.

Better to have 1 passenger in hand than the air of 10. Or am I confusing something.
But you'll be lucky to have to stay near a malodorous person.

people with durian should never travel by public transport, I know a number of people who smell even worse than durian and they are allowed to take the bus? ridiculous
