In Cambodia, a town called Thamada is being developed with ten thousand condos. The first phase, consisting of a thousand condos, a 5-star hotel, restaurant, casinos and other public facilities, has now been completed.

The development of the project takes three to five years and is largely financed by the Chinese.

The town of Thamada is accessible from Ban Tha Sen in Trat province, currently via a border post that is open three days a week, but which is being developed into a permanent border post.

A second city similar to Thamada is in preparation.

Cambodia seems to be slowly being taken over by China. This has already been achieved in Sihanoukville, on the coast. Everything is fully aimed at the Chinese tourist, others are not or hardly welcome.

Yes Cornelis, Cambodia has sold itself to China. Only six years ago, Sihanoukville was a very charming 'village', where life was good. At the time it was a poorly maintained road from Phnom Penh. Of course, after the arrival of the Russians, the Chinese also have just as much right to holiday travel as before the tourists from the West, but for us it has definitely become different. Fortunately, I know how to find plenty of nice places in Thailand where mass tourism has not yet made its appearance. But due to the construction of new railways, these places will also become scarcer in the future. So be it, but Sihanoukville is no longer on my list and the new city of Thamada certainly isn't either.

The Chinese are helping the beautiful country of Cambodia to a lot of trouble. Sihanoukville was a beautiful village by the sea, cozy and small-scale now full of high towers, gold statues, ladies of the night and casinos, in short, a lot of misery. In Phnom Penh they are also busy filling everything up. And now they form their own city, Thamada, which of course will be a copy of the now hideous Sihanoukville.

It is the new "earning model" for rich Chinese!

Recently I heard in Thailand that there were escalating quarrels / skirmishes between locals and Chinese. The Chinese there do not respect the culture of Cambodia, have no respect for the local population and so on.
The same is happening in Laos. Last month I was in Luang Prabang for a short week with my girlfriend who also speaks fluent Laotian. The local guesthouses/hotels and many shops have mostly been taken over by the Chinese. The locals really dislike Chinese people. House prices have gone up and locals can hardly buy a house themselves. When the train connection between Kunming in China and Luang Prabang is ready, I fear for Luang Prabang. Then it could be a big fair in Luang Prabang (casinos, etc., etc.).
Look at what is happening in China itself with minorities such as the Uighurs in the western province of Xinjiang. They are locked up in prisons and forced to do forced labor in factories on the prison grounds. Tibet was annexed by China in 1950 on the grounds that it had once been Chinese territory under the rule of the Mongols (Kublai Khan).

    Tibet never Chinese territory
When China invaded Tibet in 1950, it was precisely because of this conviction: to claim a historic right to the region. Here is an essential point: de facto, Tibet has never been Chinese territory. Although there were political and economic relations, the area was independent until the invasion.”

Google Maps. National Geographic. Wikipedia. Meanwhile, China's annexation of Tibet has also left its mark in the media. It is a reflection of Chinese supremacy in the political arena. Meanwhile, Beijing is pursuing a ruthless policy in Tibet. Han Chinese are sent en masse to settle in the area, the indigenous Tibetan population disappears in the margins and oppression and violence compel them to act in desperation. In the words of the Dalai Lama, the 'cultural genocide' continues.

China is developing its New Silk Route under the eyes of the whole world!!
