Home » Reader question » Reader question: Does a Thailand Elite Card give priority?
Dear readers,
Can people with the Thailand Elite Card also go to Thailand now or will they be given priority as soon as more foreigners are admitted? I haven't heard or read anything about it.
Regards,
Wout
You don't really hear about that.
Perhaps because in themselves they are actually ordinary visa holders, who, like others, are subject to the applicable Thai immigration law.
I therefore do not expect any exceptions for Thai Elite Card holders in that respect and that :
Business people are admitted if other business people are also admitted.
Married people will be admitted if other married people are also admitted.
Pensioners will be admitted if other pensioners are also admitted.
etc ...
Only certain things are made easier for them or taken out of their hands and they pay for that, of course. Whether they will be able to enjoy it in these times......
But maybe Thai Elite will come in with something to compensate for the missed service…..
But you never know of course and if there are Thai Elite Card holders here I am sometimes curious if they have received news from the organization.
The answer is NO.
As far as I know, no priority (yet). However, all existing visas are automatically extended by 6 months.
The latter, 6 months extension, is new to me. Did I miss something, maybe?
No idea. I received the message via email at the beginning of this month.
Of course I do not know the sender of that email and I do not know where he gets his knowledge from, but as far as I know there is currently only a visa amnesty until July 31, and there is no question of a general extension of 6 months.
Given the article, Wim may be a Thai Elite Card holder.
It follows that the Thai Elite Organization has automatically extended the membership of its members by 6 months as compensation and they have sent an email about this to their members.
Whether this also automatically extended the validity period of the visa, I cannot say without knowing details.
But maybe Wim wants to release the email, or part of it, without of course revealing other private information.
That is of course his decision and if not I respect that decision too. Speaks for itself.
Ronny I should have expressed myself a little more carefully. What is extended for 6 months is the 'membership', this is the visa plus the benefits. Elite members have been informed about this as follows:
Dear Valued Members:
Greetings from Thailand Elite and hope this message finds you well
We, Thailand Privilege Card are conscious of the challenges that our honored members face during the COVID-19 outbreak. We are writing to ensure you that we fully understand your unpleasant situation caused by this crisis and the impact it has on your travel to Thailand.
Thailand Privilege Card takes this opportunity to update our valued members regarding a remedy for our existing members due to the spread of COVID-19. We are honestly pleased to give you an extended 6-month membership after the current membership ends together with the average benefits per each calendar year of your current membership which you are entitled.'
I don't know exactly how this works, this will only be discussed at the end of the membership.
That is indeed very different from the automatic renewal of all existing visas that you reported earlier. This is how misunderstandings arise………
Wout's question was about the Elite card holders Cornelis. it seemed to me that the context was clear.
No William,
You don't answer Wout's question.
You only tell them that you can pay your contribution from Thai Elite Members six months later.
In his original question he is not talking about Elite card holders, but about 'existing visas'.
So if you have an annual visa valid until the end of June or the end of July, for example, it will automatically be extended for 6 months. Is there an official announcement of that?
No, to the best of my knowledge, no such announcement was ever made.
No, there is currently no official message about this
No, this only concerns Thai Elite Card holders who get an extra 6 months.
No Guido, this is specifically for Elite card holders. I am not familiar with regular annual visas, but Ronny knows all about that.
