Dear readers,

I have been living in Thailand for almost 10 years now. Have an account with Kasikornbank almost from the start. This has slowly grown into a few accounts that I can use electronically with internet banking for various transactions.

Recently I opened a Foreign Deposit Account account at the Bangkok Bank, currency is Euro. I will receive my pension from the Netherlands on this. I have also opened a contra account and I can make transactions with internet banking between both accounts and also to other non-bkk bank accounts in Baht currency.

But unfortunately I cannot transfer Euros via internet banking, in Euro, to other international accounts. I can personally, at the branch, transfer euros to international accounts, but this is difficult if I am abroad. It is possible to do what I want, but then the Euros have to come from Thailand, and proof of work permit, etc. is needed.
I've searched for months now, googled, checked websites of banks, but I can't find an option to do what I want.

I believe someone on Thailandblog reported that this person could. I would like to receive meaningful information regarding this topic with the hope that there is a solution to what I want to achieve.

Regards,

khun

Simply open an account in the Netherlands.

If you have a bank account in the Netherlands, you can indeed “normally” transfer money to foreign accounts via internet banking. But that of course shifts the problem a bit because then you first have to get money into that bank account in the Netherlands…
And then of course first try to open such an account.

    Do

I may not understand it, but I transfer Euros monthly via my Bangkok Bank account to my giro account in the Netherlands. Not a penny of pain.

You cannot use that Thai euro account to transfer euros. Is only good to place euros on in the hope of having more value later on. You pay for that I believe 3%
Always converted to baht before collection and transferred to Europe also in baht.
I think? that the thai bank then converts to euros. Does one have profit from exchange rate.
If the Thai bank transfers baht to Europe and is converted there, the exchange rate will be much worse.
This is what they gave me as information at Bangkokbank CM, but they didn't know the details about where the exchange happened.

transferring euros from the fdc (foreign deposit account) in euros is possible. But there are a number of restrictions, which means that banks have special rules for this or sometimes a special form.
Therefore, you may not be able to make a transfer via the internet.

If you know in advance that you want to transfer euros while you are not in Thailand on the transfer date, you can simply submit the paper order with the note: “transfer on ….
    Works well.

But you may want to transfer it while you are in another country and only think about it when you are in the other country.

    I don't know a solution for that.

Another solution has already been mentioned: transfer money to your own account in the Netherlands. Then you can easily transfer via internet banking wherever you are in the world at any time you want. You solve the problem, as it were, by doing the administrative act in advance in Thailand.

    I probably wasn't clear, sorry.
Of course I have accounts in the Netherlands. And I transfer money to my account in Thailand with internet banking.
And can I transfer money from my Thai accounts to my Dutch accounts via internet banking in Baht.
But I have an FCD account with the bangkok bank where I receive amounts from the Netherlands in euros. I can transfer amounts, in Baht, from this account to other accounts using internet banking. In Thailand as well as in the Netherlands.
But I cannot transfer amounts in Euros via internet banking. And that is exactly what I want because I am abroad sometimes. However, I can, physically present myself, transfer amounts from this account in Euros to a branch of the BKK bank.
I have checked everything, but one can only bank via the internet, transfer amounts in Euros if the deposit comes from within Thailand. And that's not the case.
So my question is, does anyone know how to do this? Maybe a different bank, different branch, etc.

      khun,

I also experience this problem at the Bangkok Bank.
I don't understand how this works with other Dutch people (such as Chris) in Thailand.
      What are we doing wrong?

      Chander
