Immigration has something new again?

Dear readers,

At the 90-day notification at immigration Ubon Ratchathani, I received 2 forms for the extension of stay in March next.
One is a TM7 that you can already fill in and the other has no number.

I looked on the internet and the TM30 form looks different and asks for different information. The “new” form now asks, for example, what my wife's job is and her salary.

What does her job and her salary have to do with my extension of stay? If I wasn't married, what then?

Maybe Ronny the visa expert can say something about it.

Regards,

Wim

    No idea.
Could well be a new form that will be applied nationally from 1 January, but I have not heard anything about that yet. If so, I suspect we'll read more about that soon.
But in most cases such forms have a local origin and are usually only used locally.

Perhaps, if you go for the "Thai marriage", there are questions that would otherwise also be asked during the application or the home visit, but you will now receive it to fill in.
Whether certain questions are relevant or not….? Well, that depends on whoever wrote the questions. Moreover, in Thailand, as you will know, little account is taken of the right to privacy. Certain questions may then raise questions for us.
By the way, it may well be that they have made a similar form for when you go for a “Retired”, but with adjusted questions.

It has happened in the past that people suddenly came running with questionnaires.
Some go nationwide, others stay local, but they usually have one thing in common. After a while they almost all die a quiet death. It is often enough for a new boss to come and sweep away all the ideas of his predecessor. And maybe make a new list. 😉

The form that I know is still circulating at the moment and is also presented at most immigration offices, is the one with the “overstay” penalties. Do you just have to sign for acquaintance or you will receive it in a bit.
If you are presented with other forms, this is usually something that was developed locally.

Readers may want to let us know which forms, beyond the standard form, they need to fill in or sign locally. If there are of course.

Yes, if a question is asked that does not apply to someone, then they have a heavenly problem. With us we put a slash next to the topic and that means almost everywhere: not applicable.

IF you have lived in TH for so long, with a Thai wife as well, then you should know how government / business in TH works. If it doesn't have a state/form/number on it, then it was invented locally. And the Thai bureaucracy reacts to every incident in which something irregular or corruption is discovered, with the preparation of new papers, which, according to their (often limited) insight, try to exclude that possibility from others / until another smart jopie stands up who again discovered another shortcut.
