'How do I get in touch with a… online?'
Dear readers,
Good day experienced Thailand enthusiasts and Thailand blog visitors. I am planning to go on holiday in Thailand for about three months to see if I would like to go there next year on a retirement visa and was wondering how I could get in touch online with things like a gardener, a diving instructor, a personal trainer. Are there certain websites where you can find a painter (in English) that you can approach for a job? Someone who helps me as a stick behind the door to start exercising. Is there something of a (again English-language) Marketplace or something that you use?
In the Netherlands I know my way around, but soon I will be there and I will get stuck. Sure: if you're in Pattaya, you can easily walk to the beach and find a dive tent. But suppose I'm in Chiang Mai and want to find someone there to teach me how to dive in a pool so that I can go somewhere well prepared… well…
I think the question and search is clear. Hope you have some tips!
Khop khun mak krap!
Regards,
Alex

How about Google, for example, if you are looking for a personal trainer for Chiang Mai, you have countless options for what you want.
Entering the English terms into Google often helps, in order to make a choice afterwards.
For a diving teacher you are of course almost as favorable in Chiang Mai as looking for a sky teacher in Zandvoort.
But Google or another search site usually gives so many results that you can almost find something for the craziest wishes.
Hi John,
Of course I understand that we have Google and obviously (but it was also an example) the chances of finding a diving instructor in Chiang Mai are not that great, but I searched for one or more 'collection site(s)'. Something less business like 'fiver.com' or 'upwork.com', but where the Thai present themselves and where supply and demand meet. Something like marktplaats.nl. Anyway. Clearly.
Of course I already see sites appearing in Google. Unfortunately, it is often the commercial sites (where everyone wants to earn money) that come to the fore, where they have perfect English texts and prices run up to 100 US$ for an hour of a personal trainer. So that's what I wasn't looking for… I was looking for Thai prices 😉
Regards,
Alex
Just Google, how about the link below, the internet is full of such offers.
https://chiangmaipropertyangel.com/property-services/
And there was also a yelow pages book in Thailand with English sections.
In the hotels they are sometimes still on the bedside table.
Furthermore, the reception will want to be of service to you.
A kind of Marketplace is: Bahtsold.com
Articles and services, supply and demand, clearly classified. Success with it.
Kaidee.com is a kind of marketplace.
Also for work and vacancies.

jos k.
