Reader question: Obtain DigiD via the embassy in Bangkok?

Dear readers,

During my holiday in the Netherlands, I tried to request a new DigiD, so that my one-time login code could be sent to my old address in the Netherlands. This was not possible. The physical collection of a one-time login code had to be done via Haarlem (Schiphol).

At the moment, the Dutch embassy in Paris is the only embassy in the world that assists in retrieving a one-time DigiD code. I think that our embassy here in Bangkok could play a pioneering role in this, if it would be willing to assist in this as well. Not only a good service for the Dutch in Thailand, but perhaps also for the Dutch elsewhere in Asia. Of course for a normal fee.

I just don't know which way to take this to the attention, but I think there might be Thailandblog readers who do know.

Regards,

Ron

That is indeed a good idea. If this were possible. Because if you do not yet receive a pension, you cannot get Digi D here. And even if you have forgotten your password, you cannot request it again from Thailand. So worth a try. So people who speak to the Ambassador soon, speak to him about it. I understand that the ambassador himself also reads the Thailand blog. So he does respond to your call.

Dear Ron, you encounter a problem in TH, you have questions about it, you assume that compatriots experience the same thing, and you think there is a role for the embassy in terms of a solution! Well, why don't you write the ambassador a letter? Recently he has presented himself on the various Thailand forums, and he seems very receptive and approachable. Then make a report of the correspondence and send it to Thailandblog. With this you finish the problem in your own hands, you don't have to let others do the work, and …., it's for a good cause too! Little hint: don't suggest anything about a normal fee, but suggest free service.

Please note that Digid can also be applied for through the Dutch Embassy in Berlin.
Good idea to raise this with Mr. Excellency Ambassador in Bangkok, would really mean enormous progress for many, incidentally also for the Government in NL, SVB, Tax Authorities, etc.
I have Digid, it works perfectly, also from Thailand, only, tried to increase security by activating SMS code for login.
That is possible, but ... the code to enable the activation of this extra check can only be sent to your old telephone number in the Netherlands and ... yes, yes, to be able to adjust that old telephone number in the Netherlands, yes ... bingo ... can the code for this can only be sent to … yes … your old telephone number in NL!!
We can't make it more beautiful.
