Good news for your Thai partner, neighbours, friends and acquaintances. Since the beginning of this month, Thais in and around Pattaya no longer have to travel to Bang-na to apply for or renew a passport.

At the beginning of this month, the Consular Affairs Department of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs opened an office in Pattaya. The office is located on the first floor of the Avenue Shopping Center on Second Road and is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 15.30pm. Newspaper reports speak of a great interest in the first days.

The opening of this office is a start for the Ministry to open passport offices in several large provincial cities. Currently, the range is limited to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Korat, Ubon, Surat Thani, Songkhla and Yala. Pattaya is therefore the ninth office where Thais can go for their passport matters.
