The Thai Embassy in The Hague will start online visa or e-Visa on Monday, November 22, 2564 https://thaievisa.go.th. Everything is online only, mandatory.

Please study the information and how to apply for a visa in detail before proceeding and use carefully to fill in all the information to avoid having your application rejected. Once a request is submitted, the embassy cannot resolve any information and in any case cannot return any charges.

More information can be found at (all English information) https://hague.thaiembassy.org/…/applying-for-visas-with.

Reaction RonnyLatYa

It was somewhat expected that The Hague, just like Brussels, would start on November 22 with the Online visa application. This is now officially confirmed.

I hope that the embassies will take the opportunity to thoroughly check and possibly adjust the visa requirements on their website, so that it is clear to everyone what exactly is needed and vague concepts such as “adequate finance” disappear and are replaced by actual amounts.

Even better would of course be that all visa requirements can be found on the website Official Website of Thailand Electronic Visa (thaievisa.go.th) together, so that the same requirements apply to everyone. That is currently partly the case on that website, but they should also check and update that and then the statement "(Please check relevant embassy / consulate's website for specifically required documents) " is no longer necessary or only in specific cases. But they may also be working on that because when opening that website the message appears:

“Attention : Due to system upgrade, Thai e-Visa service will be temporarily unavailable from 10 December 2021 at 11.00:12 AM to 2021 December 11.00 at XNUMX:XNUMX PM (UTC). Should there be any inquiries, please contact Thai Embassy/Consulate at your country of residence.”

The website of the embassy also states that applying for a visa normally takes between 5-7 working days. Fits well I think.

“How long is the processing time? & WHEN should I apply for an e-Visa?

It is expected to take 5 – 7 working days after a complete application is received.

You are recommended to apply for an e-Visa at least 1 month before your intended travel date BUT no longer than 1 and a half to 2 months because most visas have 60 – 90 days' validity.”

We will see how it all works out in practice and I hope that the first applicants will tell us about their experiences with this.

I'm not going to try anything myself for the first few weeks. I don't need a visa and am leaving it free for the real applicants who will be leaving in the next few weeks.

If all visa applications go through (thaievisa.go.th),
you can probably only pay with a credit card.
Many elderly people will be left out as a result.

At the moment the web pages with requirements for all types of visas have been removed from the website of the Embassy of The Hague.
I suspect they scrutinize all the lyrics.

    Dear Cup,
I feel a little addressed, and I don't want to say 'humiliated' just yet.
I belong to your mentioned age group and I can make payments worldwide with my credit card.
Internet banking and internet investing are also among my options.
So also arranging a visa or Thai-pass via online work goes well for us.
    Welcome to Thailand

there is now a user manual on the website.

    Interesting/Disturbing:
Op https://thaievisa.go.th/non-immigrant-o the Non immigrant “O” retirement visa is not listed.
When this is final, only the Long Stay visas 'O-A' (x*50 years) and 'O-X' (1*2 years) will remain as an alternative for this group of long-term residents over 5.
    https://thaievisa.go.th/long-stay-visa
Compared to the 'O' visa, the additional requirements for applying for an 'O-A' visa are that one must submit a medical certificate and a statement of (good) conduct AND have an income of at least ฿65k/month or a bank account with at least ฿800k or a combination of income and bank account with a total of at least ฿800k.

It's possible and I wouldn't really be surprised if this were the case.
I have long expected that the Non-immigrant O Retired will disappear and only OA will remain as an option with the associated requirements.

Just as the requirements for OA insurance have been increased and apparently the financial requirements may also be increased, I still do not find an official note of this. Must have been official somewhere. I'd just like to know exactly what's in that note,

      But we'll see.

        Hey Ronnie,

But I read up https://thaievisa.go.th/long-stay-visa not (yet) that health insurance is required for an 'O-A' visa. However, for the visa 'O-X' (฿40k/฿400k out-/inpatient).

Op https://thaievisa.go.th/non-immigrant-o states that this visa is for “Visiting friends and family”.
However, I can't find anything on this page about visiting friends.

What I do think is a positive development is that it seems that with the introduction of this e-visa system worldwide uniformity of visa requirements will be achieved.

You have to be careful with the current one https://thaievisa.go.th/ website.
He is certainly not as it should be in terms of requirements right now.

It must be thoroughly checked for the information and requirements and must be updated.
          But I'll read it anyway.

As I also indicated in my response to the question, I also hope that they will bring everything together centrally on that website and that the applications will be managed centrally. Only then would all requirements be the same for everyone.
But I'm actually a bit afraid of it, especially if the current entry remains with every type of visa.
“(Please check relevant embassy/ consulate's website for specifically required documents)” because then we are back at the same point. It is then still the individual embassies that determine what applies to them.

But indeed, I agree with you that it would be a missed opportunity to standardize and centralize everything.

Just read on the site of the Thai embassy in The Hague that via the e-visa application that people, retired over 50 years old, can apply for a non-immigrant O visa with a maximum stay of 90 days. And then extending in Thailand as before seems to me to be the best option for long-stayers.

        • Ger Korat says up

In addition: at E-visa it is under Category 1 point 4 Longer stay for retired persons (pensioner aged 50 or above)

          • RonnyLatYa says up

            Yes and what are:
“Financial evidence eg bank statement, proof of earnings, sponsorship letter”
If you don't get that right, you will lose the money from your application.”
            https://hague.thaiembassy.org/th/publicservice/e-visa-categories-and-required-documents

            • Ger Korat says up

Yes, the requirements are separate from my response, because I note that the non-immigrant O visa for over-50s retired does not expire. You will find the requirements with the other choices and you had to show them earlier if you wanted this visa as a pensioner over 50.

              • RonnyLatYa says up

Yes, they still exist. Many will be happy with it.
But no one knows what the financial requirements are for any visa. (other than OA and OX) There is clear information to be found about that.
The fact that you previously also had to show financial requirements with a visa application is irrelevant for new visa applicants, because they do not know that.
Yes, it's best to show enough at once.
You could also think that since they have increased OA without prior notice, it is not excluded that this could also be the case with other visas. Clearly stating the amounts would already help a lot. Just like with OA and OX, but maybe that will be on the old visa pages if they have been updated. They are currently empty. Except that again OA/OX

                We'll see.

What I do find funny and new with every visa application is the following
“Picture of applicant holding the photo and info page of the applicant's passport”
You now also have to be photographed with your passport photo and your passport.
They probably want to make sure that you still look like your passport photo and that your passport photo is recent. Hopefully no one will be rejected for that reason.

We have been working for weeks to obtain a NON-O volunteer visa, but they are asking for more and more additional documents. The document she last demanded is a wp3 document without which nothing was processed. What is very strange is that this document is not requested anywhere and I am the only person who has to submit it. The foundation where I am allowed to do volunteer work has never had to provide this document once in their existence, which must be requested from the labor department.

So you see, it is determined by the officer or official to ask for additional information before a visa is issued.

It is of course also very annoying that the Thai embassy in The Hague is closing for visa applications, shortly after Thailand "welcomes" tourists again.

Regarding an application for an E-Visa, it is stated on the website to apply for a visa one month before departure. However, via the Visa Service Desk in The Hague, get is many times faster and the visa is in your possession within a week. We have already had to postpone our trip 3 times because something else was always requested. If there is no lock-down, we will be on a plane next week.

    • RonnyLatYa says up

According to their latest page, the following should suffice, but if people keep inventing additional requirements, you will understand that we are not one step further and everything remains as it was.
The twilight zone seems to be preserved.

Voluntary work with NGO/Charity/Association (without salary)
      VISA TYPES: Non-immigrant O Visa (90 days)
      REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
      Passport
Applicant's photo (passport photo) taken within the last 6 months
      Declaration
Letter confirming voluntary work signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the sign
      Registration of NGO/Charity/Association/Foundation
Passport page(s) which contain international travel records for the past 12 months
Proof of your current residency eg Dutch passport, Dutch resident permit, utility bill, etc.
Picture of applicant holding the photo and info page of the applicant's passport

As far as the visa application is concerned, it is advised to do this one month in advance and the normal delivery time is between 5 and 7 working days, which I think is quite acceptable.

      6. HOW LONG is the processing time? & WHEN should I apply for an e-Visa?
It is expected to take 5 – 7 working days after a complete application is received.
You are recommended to apply for an e-Visa at least 1 month before your intended travel date BUT no longer than 1 and a half to 2 months because most visas have 60 – 90 days' validity.
