Notifier: Lung Addie

I would like to remind readers of TB, who use the 90 days notification ONLINE, to be vigilant as I have already received reports of two identical occurrences this month:

  • Lung Lala: must report 10 days on 4/90. Didn't receive any prior email, as usual before, that this had to be done.
  • Lung addie: had to report 90d on 04/04 and also didn't get a pre-notification, as usual.

That reminder when it is time for your next 90-day report is an extra service when reporting online.

Keep in mind that if you do not receive that notification for any reason, you will not be able to invoke it to not make a 90-day notification or to make it late.

That responsibility to do so within the foreseen time period is that of the foreigner.

It is therefore always advisable to place an additional reminder somewhere in your calendar.

Indeed, I have to submit TM19 online again on April 47 and have not yet received a reminder. Always put it in the agenda rn so submitted today (12 days in advance).
Not a problem, but confusing indeed.

Always put a picture of the new date on my mobile's lock screen.
Finally, every stamp action is in the folder IMM in the mobile.
By the way, just do it 'old-fashioned' at the counter there.

Same with me. No reminder and also that it took longer before I received the new date. Almost twice as long.

i also do the notification online, and the last time i got the reminder on the very day it expired.
I also noticed that if you make your new report a few days before the end, the new 90 days will start from the day you reported again.. so the current 90 day period is shortened slightly.
But I am happy with the online option because the immigration office is still 85 km one way..
We now save that every time.

The first time I made a 90-day notification online, everything went well. A few days later, however, I received an email that I had to urgently report to immigration in Bangkok. There I was told that was common practice after the first 90 days of online reporting. I will not be called again with a subsequent online report.

      That's what it says anyway.
The first report must be made at the local immigration office.
Even if you have a new passport.

      5. The online service does NOT support if:
      – There have been a change of new passport.
      – The foreigner have to make the notification in person or authorizes another person to make the notification at the immigration office located in the locality in which the foreigner have taken residence. After that, the foreigner can make the next 90 days notification by online service.

When I extended my stay the first time, at the immigration office in Kantang, I was told by the officer that I could immediately report the first 90 days online.

        Besides, I had no memory.

        • RonnyLatYa says up

That's because in Kantang they do something that they don't actually have to do, but from which you benefit.

The first time you extend the stay period, this also counts as a 90-day notification.
Also clearly stated in the 90 day regulations.
“The first application for extension of stay by the foreigner is equivalent to the notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days.”

In that case, no 90 days are entered separately by the IO, so you are not yet known in the 90 days system. This only happens when the IO enters your passport there.

If the IO immediately enters a separate 90-day notification for you during the first renewal, then you are known in the 90-day system. You can then also make the following report online.
So the IO does something that he/she is allowed to do but is not required to do and which is to your advantage.

You will probably encounter more in smaller IO offices where people have more time to do that and where the IO reports both extension and 90 days.
In larger immigration offices such as Bangkok for example, the 90 day notifications are separate and separate from, for example, extensions with even a separate numbering system and one will not do that.

Actually, you can easily find out whether or not the IO has done that.
If the IO also immediately enters the 90 days separately with that first year extension, you will also receive an official 90-day slip as proof.
In that case you will also be able to make the following report online.
But actually the online that you will perform next time is already the 2nd notification.

I took a look at my passport Ronny, and indeed there is a 90-day slip in my passport, I had seen it but didn't read it properly, stupid, haha.

I just paid attention to the stamp.

Thanks again for the clear explanation Ronny.

For the statistics, I also did not receive an email notification this time (I had to report before April 11, 2023). But since past experiences with Thai government online services have not been exactly optimal, I always add a reminder to my calendar. I actually almost started to trust the new system because it seemed to be quite solid this time, but alas, cheered a little too soon. I hope this is not an omen of future difficulties. The previous system also worked well several times until I had done a new annual extension at the immigration office and apparently that info was not updated in the online 90-day report system, so the system thought I was in "overstay" and could therefore I don't do a 90-day report online. And of course nobody at immigration knew how to solve that and I was advised to just come back to the desk every time to make the report. Things have gone well again since the new online system, hopefully it will continue to work.
