Update year extension, (see ref). Yesterday Friday 06-12 for 2nd time to Immigration Chaengwatthana Bangkok for year extension.

My first application with renewal. Health insurance was not accepted. Had received the necessary new documents by email this morning, including insurance certificate for alien to apply for non immigrant, among others, both in Thai and English. This was issued to the relevant official but was not accepted because I was not in their system with a Health Insurance. They check this on the spot. The company in question had to register me in their system first.

Called Pacific Cross to register with Immigration, which was a bit slow. My Thai is not good and their English even less, but after some effort and contact between officer and Pac. I crossed the immigration system and got my extension.

All this took about 3 to 4 hours, did not know that one also had to stand through the Immigration system with insurance,

Reaction RonnyLatYa

The fact that you had to register the insurance first is also new to me. This way you learn something every time and the TB Immigration Info Brief proves its usefulness again...

Extending in itself is not a problem. There it must be an insurance from the list and those insurance companies will have received the necessary instructions.

But if the visa is applied for at the embassy, according to the rules it can also be an insurance policy that is not on the list.

I suspect that those local insurance companies are not familiar with the system or do not know how or where to report this.

Would the embassy do this for you? No idea, but I suspect so. Or the embassy takes the simplest route of course and says that it must also be an insurance policy for them from the list.

For a visa on entry, among other things, a certificate from any insurance company that meets the coverage requirement of 400.000 Bath inpatient and 40.000 Bath outpatient is sufficient. For extension of your OA visa, a Thai insurance is required that has been approved by the immigration service. At AA insurance you can request an overview of the companies

      1. This insurance must first be met when applying for the visa, in other words the embassy will initially have to approve whether the insurance is sufficient. That is why insurance must also be done
      fill in “overseas insurance certificate”.

      2. The list of currently approved airlines (application/renewal) can also be found here http://longstay.tgia.org/home/companiesoa

A list of locally approved airlines (on request only) may be available from the appropriate embassy.
