Subject: Immigration Samut Sakhon

90 days notification in Samut Sakhon. Went to Samut Sakhon immigration office today for my 90 days notice. Should have brought my bank book just to be sure, you never know. I handed over my passport and the previous 90 days note and after 3 minutes my passport along with the next 90 days note was handed to me. My bank book was not asked and no other questions were asked.

Everything was just as before, and as usual I was outside after 5 minutes.

Thanks for reporting.

The 90-day notification in itself is of course something simple and less and less paperwork is required. Much more interesting to follow is whether a check of the bank book also took place on the occasion of that 90-day notification. Not (yet) in Samut Sakhon. There could of course be all sorts of reasons for this.

1. The new rules only came into effect on March 1. The first three months are not over until June 1. Which of course does not mean that one cannot be checked earlier.

2. The application for an annual extension dates from before 1 March, so you still fall under the previous scheme.

3. Your immigration office does not (yet) apply the new rules.

4. Your immigration office applies a different way of checking. This does not have to be done on the occasion of a 90-day notification. That is a choice of the immigration office itself.

5. People forgot to ask….

6.… ..

I do agree with you, if you used a bank amount with your renewal, to take the bank book with you. That's a little effort. Have it updated first at an ATM (or where that option is available). Make sure that all transactions are visible in the booklet. If you do not update for a long time, you will only see a + and – total amount for a certain period. It is then not possible to deduce whether or not a person has been below a certain amount. Do you still have to go to the bank for a printout of all transactions?
