Subject: Immigration Jomtien

I went to Jomtien today April 18 for my 90 days, My 90 days was until April 20 but I wanted to avoid the crowds tomorrow with Songkran, that's why I went today and it was very quiet at 10 am, I stood after 15 minutes back outside.

What I find a bit strange now is that I have been given until July 16th. This is 90 days from today April 18, so actually I should have gone next week if it is calculated from the day you enter and you are allowed to be a few days late, or am I seeing this wrong?

Reaction RonnyLatYa

Thank you for the notification.

That also happens to me that they count the next 90 days of notification from the notification date and not from the 90th day.

If this were to happen with an extension, you could say that you miss a few days of stay by going earlier or gain by going later.

But what does it matter with a 90 day notification. Whether you go this week or next week? What do you gain or lose with it?

90 days starts on the day you go to immigration you can go 2 weeks before and 1 week after but per day after you pay 500 TBT per day and 90 days is not an extension of the previous date

    • RonnyLatYa says up

The 500 Bath per day only applies to an “Overstay” of the period of stay.
For a 90 day notification you can only be late. Never in “Overstay”, because it does not concern a period of stay.
So it will cost you 2000 Baht for being late. If you are arrested and you have not filed a 90 day report, it is 4000 Baht.

“If a foreigner stays in the kingdom over 90 days without notifying the Immigration Bureau or notifying the Immigration Bureau later than the set period, a fine of 2,000.- Baht will be collected. If a foreigner who did not make the notification of staying over 90 days is arrested, he will be fined 4,000.- Baht.”

In my memory, the 90-day notice was always after the date printed on your barcode paper.
So a week earlier, then 90 days after the date on that note.

It is therefore simply a matter of putting a kilo of sugar on everything and checking it a dozen times, so that you cannot accidentally step outside the lines and therefore find a compensation for it.

After our 90 day visit, I always put the next end date in red on my calendar. plus a date 4 to 6 days before, so that we can always anticipate calamities.

That is also different at every immigration, here in Buriram they keep the day that it has expired, then 90 days are added, whether you go 14 days earlier or 7 days later, does not matter here.

    Hello RonnyLatya,

For your information that you no longer have to go to Immigration for the 90-day extension, but can now also do this via the Internet http://www.immigration.go.th.
Only possible during 15 -8 days before the expiration date.
In this way too, the new 90 days are calculated from the date of application.

    Best regards. Bz

Always nice when readers send me info.

      But “nowadays” is relatively natural.
In this case, since 2016, the Dossier Visa has included the option to make the report online.

      Thanks anyway.

He wanted to avoid the songkran crowds on April 19? Anyway they are not open then and I think songkran is April 13-15.

    • RonnyLatYa says up

April 13-15 are the public holidays for Songkhran in Thailand.
But locally this can also be celebrated on April 16-17-18-19. Depends on location.
That is why it is also called the “7 dangerous days” and not the “3 dangerous days”.

For example, Pattaya is the last to celebrate Songkhran on April 19. Therefore…

I tried to do the 90 day notification online last week. This was impossible. I was told to go to the nearest immigration office. Calling the immigration office in Bangkok was also not possible because there was no answer. Perhaps it has to do with the holidays. I just wanted to know if you can still make your report online. This can be up to 7 days before the 90 days that I still met. Does anyone know if it is still possible to make an online report?

    • Wim de Visser says up

It will not be the case everywhere that you cannot submit the 90-day notification online.
In Ubon Ratchathani I succeeded exactly 1 time and then never again and that was already a few years ago.
Tried it again recently and get the exact same message telling me to report to the nearest office.
What then is the reason that it is possible here and there and not somewhere else remains unclear to me.

      • Bz says up

It is only possible online between 15 – 07 days before the expiration date.
It's online so it doesn't matter where you are.

        Best regards. Bz

On February 5, 2019 I made a 90-day report online. This time it went without any problems and I even received the “approved” by E-mail within half an hour. Then print the form from that website that needs to be in your passport. I always try to do my 90-day report online, but out of 15 times I've only succeeded twice. If it doesn't work out, you still have time to make your 90 day report in person at your immigration office.

    It seems logical to me.

Once you have registered, the new 90 days will start again.

You don't have to report every 90 days for nothing. Not every 92 days right?

    • dirk says up

After returning to Thailand in October 2018, I properly reported to immigration in Phetchabun.
Submitted the necessary papers and after a good conversation I was able to automatically get an extension for 1000 Baht for every 90 days. I now receive a blue note in the mail every 90 days that I do not have in my passport and everything is OK. So I don't have to report every 90 days. Perfect service.

    • RonnyLatYa says up

90 days is a reference day.
The notification can already be made after 75 days to 97 days.
So it does not have to be on the 90th day.

      • RonnyLatYa says up

It's just what you call a perfect service if you charge 1000 Baht for something that is free.
But if they can convince 1000 of them, that is a nice source of income
But hey, take advantage of it. You can only have received a maximum of two since October 2018. Let's see if it lasts.

        • Lung addie says up

Yes, such a 'perfect service' has another name: 'active corruption'. If an article about corruption in Thailand appears next week, they will be the first to condemn it. If it fits in their context, then you call it perfect service. And then complain that it's getting harder and harder for the people who simply want to follow the applicable law. How hypocritical do you have to be for that?
Hopefully one day you won't get a 'red stamp' instead of a blue note.

        • theos says up

Right and that's why Big Joke was also kicked out. He wanted to put an end to this and other kinds of practices, which he failed to do. You will have bought a new Mercedes or Lamborghini on credit and your extra income will be stopped. Or your Mia Noi wants something expensive.

  6. Marcel says up

You are indeed right Ronny, I hadn't thought that far, thanks for your response and you have always given me good and correct advice in the past, especially in the early days Thailand for me, thanks for this and welcome back here on the block

  7. dirk says up

    Dear Ronnie,
I chose to pay the 1000 Baht myself.
I didn't have to do this either, but then I have to go to Immigration every time and then I lost more in total.
I have already received 2 and I assume that the next one will also be sent.

    Lung addie
Read my above explanation to Ronny of perfect service before you are done with your judgment.

    • He says up

I don't see any corruption here either. If they have to send a form by post four times, they incur costs that they would not incur if you came by in person. Will also inquire in Korat if they offer that service.
