After several years of preparation, the six-lane highway to Rayong is ready. This road can be crossed at various places via viaducts and gives a good impression of the new "Highway 7". Director Sarawuth Songwila said the road will open May 22 and will be free until August 24.

During that time, they want to test the systems, such as the toll gates at U-Tapao, among others, and the monitoring of traffic, communication networks and security systems. This twice 3 lanes is 32 kilometers long and has cost more than 14 billion baht in construction and land expropriation. The latter has caused the necessary delay.

This new road has considerably shortened the travel time from Bangkok via Pattaya to the Maptahut sub-district in Rayong, despite the speed limit of 120 km per hour. The toll from Bangkok to U-Tapao is 130 baht for passenger cars. From Pattaya, 36.000 cars are expected to travel to the Mataphut sub-district in Rayong every day.

In the context of the expected developments of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), this new highway route 7 was necessary to improve the transport network and increase the logistical efficiency of the industrial sector. The old route 3 that led along the coast to Rayong via Sattahip did not meet this requirement. But for many people it is also a comfortable way of traveling to reach a destination.

For example, if you come from Sattahip, turn right at the Ocean Marina boat company onto the new road. At the end one has the choice at the T-junction to travel right towards Rayong or left towards Lake Maprachan and avoid the busy Sukhumvit Road. At the end of this road with Lake Maprachan on the right, one can turn left onto Sukhumvit Road near Pattaya Nua (Pattaya North) or turn right onto highway 7 to Bangkok. Further on there is the option to turn right to Rayong via highway 36 or left to Pattaya where one joins highway 3, which goes right to Leam Chabang and Sri Racha or left to Pattaya (Bang Lamung).

There are now two good roads leading to Rayong, one has the choice of the new highway 7 or the already existing very good highway 36 depending on where one comes from.

This brief description shows the stools of Pattaya and Jomtien if one does not have to be there.

The "Thai party" was canceled again!

After so much Thailand "experience" I should have known better, returned home via a U-turn.
Made me useful again by delivering a food package to a collection point,
these people can't help it either!
