By order of the “National Council for Peace and Order” (NCPO), the beaches of Pattaya and Jomtien are being “modified!” What “Peace and Order” stands for is gradually becoming a big question, because it causes unrest and dissatisfaction among both the landlords and a number of tourists who come for a beach holiday.

From now on, the NCPO only wants to allow a plot size of 63 square meters per company. Previously it was possible to exploit several pieces of 45 square meters each. The next step is that two days, Wednesday and Thursday, the beach may not be used by beach chair rental companies.

In addition, the material may not be stored near the beach, everything must be removed during those two days. On the other days, a chair and a parasol may only be set up if there is a real customer for it. This means an uncertain situation for a customer as to whether or not he can use a certain place!

A meeting will soon be held in the City Hall with the landlords about the new policy plan.

As for the Dongtan Beach. Nong Nooch takes care of the landscape and park design. The duration of this operation will last until the end of April 2018 and will not take into account the high tourist season.

I noticed yesterday and today that there are no more beach chairs on Wednesday and Thursday. Very annoying since I came to Jomtien partly because of the nice beach. Anyway, from tomorrow there will be beach chairs and umbrellas again. And then next week I leave for Koh Samet or Koh Chang on Wednesday. Them that there are beach facilities there. Can someone tell me about that?

Few sunbeds and umbrella to be seen on both islands when I was there 2 years ago

I am not a beach person myself, but again such a ridiculous measure. Thinking of the notification obligation if you move to another address for longer than 24 hours, you would almost think that a holiday / stay in North Korea is a relief. As long as you are there but stay away from the flags….

Beautiful photo, nothing beats a tidy beach.

    Beautiful photo.
They should introduce this in all positions, because beach chairs do not grow in nature.

So much has been written about the sense and nonsense of an entire beach without beds that it makes no sense to repeat the arguments for and against again. Everyone makes their own assessment and tourists who have set their sights on a beach holiday can or will possibly be more inclined to combine a visit to Thailand with a beach holiday in a neighboring country, or to completely ignore Thailand. My compassion goes out to the beach chair rental companies. Many did not have it wide, the mandatory 'day off' on Wednesday cost them turnover anyway and now there is another day. Plus the obligation to remove the cots on both days will of course also cost money for transport and storage. The result will undoubtedly be that the beds/chairs will become more expensive on the other days.
The soon to be held meeting in City Hall will not allow any input from the landlords. For them, swallow or choke.

Ridiculous! Thailand promotes itself with their beautiful beaches! But then you have to lie in the sand with your towel!
Regulation in itself is fine, but all those landlords and their staff are outrageous! They already paid the same rent for 6 days instead of. 7 days, and now for 5 days instead of 7 days!
All staff will also receive a day less pay!
And then the tourists? They are not asked anything, they are simply ignored! Shame!

Which makes me wonder if the government here in Thailand still likes tourists.
The Thai who rent out their chairs and umbrellas on the beach already pay an amount for …. square meters.
Now there is another day off and one has to rent a warehouse or a common space, for which there is also an amount.

So prices up and then grumbling about that again.
But people also want to earn something, right?

Is there no one in the government who can fully comprehend that the current government is throwing golden eggs for Thailand in the ashtray???

Just start with a small snowball and add another entrepreneur to it who can generate less income as a result and pass this on to his supplier.

When you're not on the beach, you might be hanging out at a coffee shop, restaurant, or bar, or you're shopping, or visiting a nature park or theme park. Well, viewed in this way, that is better for a larger group of entrepreneurs than those few on the beach.
And as a beach tourist you belong to a small minority. Most of the tourists are Asians and they won't let you barbeque themselves yet. Be glad that you are not obliged to stay on the beach for 7 days, but that you can do something for 2 days.

After 25 years of visiting Pattaya and Jomtien beaches with great pleasure, I am now thinking about going to look at beaches in other countries where such insane restrictions are not invented / applied !!!!

It is also nice to lie on the sand without a beach chair, wonderful that rat shit that you can sniff up, no it seems as if Pattaya / Jomtien wants to get rid of the tourists !!.
