In the following lessons a short introduction with the commonly used characters, words and sounds. Lesson 8 today.

Resit for learning the Thai language
Earlier I wrote an article about learning the Thai language (see article 7A). This article was largely based on my experiences with the self-learning course of NHA. A very comprehensive course, consisting of no less than 60 lessons. The NHA course goes very deep, but it takes tremendous persistence to get there. I didn't manage to do that at the time and I stopped after two years of study.

Learning the Thai language
Fortunately, Charly's life is full of pleasant surprises (unfortunately sometimes also less pleasant ones). Until a few years ago, he would never have dared to predict that he would spend the rest of his life in Thailand. However, he has now been living in Thailand for a while and in recent years close to Udonthani. this time: Charly wants to learn the Thai language, but that's not easy.
Thai is not a difficult language to learn. A talent for languages is not necessary and your age does not matter. Nevertheless, there are some bottlenecks. One of them is the pronunciation.
Thai students' English
In general, the knowledge of the English language of the Thai population is not very good. I notice that myself in my contacts and also on this blog, people regularly complain about the poor knowledge of English, which is so important to Thailand that it should actually be the second language.
Learned something about the Thai language again

When Thai women start speaking English…. (video)
Thai and the English language, it doesn't seem like a happy combination. Certainly not if you are going to interview someone in a nightclub with a lot of noise in the background. It does lead to a funny conversation, as this video shows.
"Him say" and other Tenglish
In the Thai language there is no room for past tense or plural. They have also deleted the nouns (masculine, feminine or neuter) and articles. Why make it difficult when it can be easy? This ensures that Thai also speak their own 'kind of' English that is always precious to listen to. For example, a sentence that begins with "Him say" can be about a man or a woman. It could be someone who is saying something now or has said something in the past.
