I have a lot of cramps in my feet and legs, especially when I stretch when I'm in bed and when I wake up, it can be so wonderful to stretch, but then the pain is enormous. It must be said that I suffer from vein spatter and I have had it removed 4 times in both legs, but they come back after a while. What can I do?
I'm sorry to bother you again, but I still have a question regarding balance disorder. Every morning I suffer from balance disorder while walking or better fast walking. I run 7,5 km but not fast and have to concentrate not to go left or right. Normally I don't suffer from it so only when walking.
Ask general practitioner Maarten: Medicines against Covid-19
Some time ago I asked you about the correct amounts of Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), Zinc and Azithromycin. In the unlikely event that I get the first Covid-19 symptoms, I want to intervene immediately. I accidentally deleted my emails.
Question to general practitioner Maarten: Problems with urination due to an enlarged prostate
I had problems with urination even before I came to Thailand, but not bothersome. At the end of 2019 my bladder suddenly 'locked'. I had the urge all day long but nothing came out, so I went to the Sukhumvit hospital in the evening for advice, where my bladder was emptied through a tube (more than a liter). Then tests were done and I was prescribed medication, tamsulosin and finasteride. Brand names: Uroflow 0,4 mg and Firide 5 mg. (This happened a week later).
A sister of my girlfriend who lives in the US (the sister) was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She was lucky and got rid of it (for now) with a relatively minor operation. This sister was then 49 years old. last week a younger sister (46) here in Thailand had an entire breast plus glands in the armpit removed for the same reason. I don't know if her condition was that much more serious or if people in Thailand are more likely to use the blunt axe?
Ask general practitioner Maarten: Recurrent complaints of a swollen forearm that resembles lymphedema
If you don't mind, I also have a question for my girlfriend. My girlfriend is 30 years old. She has a normal Thai stature (1.60 m. tall and 45 kg heavy). She has had recurring complaints of a swollen forearm for two years. That always lasts about 1 week and then disappears again.
Question to general practitioner Maarten: My girlfriend is in a lot of pain because of rheumatoid arthritis
My girlfriend is 55 years old, blood pressure is 148-65 and has been diagnosed with heart failure. Her weight was 52 kilos but has now dropped below 40
Doesn't drink or smoke. Had a small moving company with a very old pick-up where she lifted many heavy loads. After a few falls about 2 years ago, research showed that a hernia with a sciatica infection or entrapment had occurred but not serious enough to operate or too risky.
I am 65 and live in Thailand, slightly overweight, do not drink alcohol and have not smoked for three years. I received medication here for a slightly elevated blood pressure 142/111 and heart rate 75 and a slightly enlarged prostate. My question is, can I take the medication together ie Amlopine 10 in the morning after meals and Pencor 2 Doxazosin 2mg
Question to general practitioner Maarten: Prostate cancer, which procedure is an option for me?
About 2 years ago I went to a urologist in BKK because of a burning sensation when urinating; he diagnosed a urinary tract infection and gave me a course of antibiotics that actually helped. However, the burning sensation when urinating came back last year when I was on holiday in the Netherlands, the urologist here had an MRI scan made and a prostate biopsy done. This showed that according to the TNM classification I have cancer stage T3 and a Gleason score of 4+3=7.
About 8 months ago I had some stomach problems, a lot of belching, feeling full and air in the esophagus that made swallowing difficult. Sometimes also violent shocks at the stomach entrance. Test indicated reflux, but I don't have an acid problem. But a more difficult phenomenon is as soon as I eat or drink something, I get heart rhythm disturbances a minute later.
Ask your GP Maarten: Medication against menstrual pain
I would like to have information about a certain medicine for my wife. My wife has a lot of trouble with her periods. Now my sister in Belgium has given me the name of a medicine to relieve the pain and burden of menstruation.
I am 74 years old, 1,67 tall and 64 kg. My blood pressure is okay. No diabetes, no alcohol, no smoker. I am taking clopidogrel 75mg, 1 stent LAD since 2016. My question is, I am taking Hytrin 2,5mg to shrink prostate, but sometimes it is hard to find. Can I use Doxazosin 2 mg instead of Pencor 2 mg tablet, 100 tablets box? Will my blood pressure stay good? Now 110/70 sometimes 100/65.
Ask general practitioner Maarten: Combination of 2 medicines
I had a severe burnout 11 years ago and I have not yet recovered from it and still have depression. I have been taking the same medication Neutapin 8 mg on prescription from my psychologist for almost 50 years now, then I can sleep well. But recently I also take a medicine Cardura 2mg at night so as not to have to get up several times to urinate. My brother recommended this to me.
Question to general practitioner Maarten: Are these medicines available in Thailand?
Soon, when I have received a corona vaccine, I will go to Thailand with my Thai wife to live there. Now I had a stroke in 2016 and wonder if the meds I'm taking are there?
I have ART treatment from July this year with 3 pills. Tenovavir, Dulutegravir and Lamivir. As of September viral load is undetectable and CD4 count is 917 and CD4 is 41,31%.
I had my blood checked yesterday, but I don't understand it. There was an assistant who did the check and he didn't speak English.
Question to GP Maarten: I eat unhealthy, which vitamin can I take?
I have been living in Thailand for several years and I am 57 years old, 20 kilos overweight but otherwise healthy, no history either. Which vitamin preparations can I take, as I eat far too few vegetables. Do not reach 500 grams per week!
