Probably bitten by a tick a few days ago. There is a red circle around the bite. The circle is not equally clear everywhere. Went to the local doctor's office who wanted to give me an ointment. I've only seen that.
Question to GP Maarten: Is my HDL cholesterol high enough?
Last week I had my sugar and cholesterol tested after 13 hours on an empty stomach. The doctor's assistant says that I do not need to see a doctor with this result. Is this correct since my HDL is only 40?
Ask general practitioner Maarten: Heartburn and Rennies
I've been using Rennies as an antacid for maybe 30 years. I have been living in Thailand for 16 years and friends have brought me Rennies from the Netherlands for me during all these years. Due to the corona situation, this supply line has been stopped.
Question to GP Maarten: Too low blood pressure?
My wife has been feeling tired and sometimes dizzy lately. She is otherwise healthy, 65 years and 158 and 65 kilos. Did an ATK, which is negative.
This question may have been asked before, but I couldn't find it. My question is about whether or not to vaccinate against covid. I'm not an anti-vaxxer, but I've barely used any drugs in my entire life. If I used anything, it was homeopathic. That's why I haven't been vaccinated yet, partly because I don't trust those new vaccines, especially the RNA and DNA type, (yet).
Question to GP Maarten: Ear slams shut
I've been having problems with my left ear for the last few weeks, it slams shut every time I have to swallow or drink water.
Question to general practitioner Maarten: I am healthy and elderly, should I take a booster or not?
I have a question for you regarding the 3rd vaccination (boost). Until 31/12, I can get a boost. The venue is the indoor stadium in Pattaya/Jomtien.
I received the 2 vaccinations on 18-08 and 08-09-'21. (pfizer). No problems after vaccination. What do you advise me to do or not do?
I have prostate cancer with bone metastases and have had 22 chemos. Stopped now, would like to go to our home in Thailand and I don't have much time left. I use the drugs Abstral 100 MI FENTANYL for sublingual and FENTANYL SANDOZ MATRIX PATCHES 37 UG. Now my question is, is there an alternative to these medicines in Thailand because I can go on holiday for 90 days and then I have to take a lot with me and I think it will cause problems at customs.
I have settled permanently in Thailand and I am 60 years old. I had a Pfizer vaccination in Bangkok at the beginning and end of August 2021. I will only be eligible for a booster at the beginning of March 2022. For a booster I would like to switch to the Moderna vaccine, because it is stronger than Pfizer.
My three eldest brothers, ages 84, 82, and 76, have prostate cancer and I will probably develop prostate cancer too because of their prostate cancer.
Question to GP Maarten: Is the Sinovac vaccine safe?
I would like to know your view on the Sinovac vaccination and about the danger of possible side effects and whether 1 dose is enough or whether 2 doses are required. Also regarding being accepted by Thailand as proof of vaccination when applying for a visa.
Sand fleas: is it recommended to have a cortisone injection against allergic reactions from their bites? In other words, I have bumps all over the body and also red spots of 5 to 10 cm in diameter that feel warm.
A friend of mine has been suffering from 'fibromyalgia' (pain, stiffness, fatigue) for several years now. Plus bad cartilage in his knees and ankles. Now he is considering a 'Stem cell treatment' (not possible in the Netherlands).
Can I stop taking Simvastatin 10mg without negative consequences for my health?
I suffer from stiff sore fingers upon waking and sometimes longer daily rest periods. Fingers are stiff, sometimes it feels like the little finger jumps when stretching. After a short period of time, approx. 5 – 10 minutes, there are no more complaints.
I recently asked you a question about my use of medication in the Netherlands and whether these are also available in Thailand. I asked Jeanine Hermanussen of AA Insurance in Bangkok if she could submit this to a pharmacy there. I got the following response.
Is it possible that I have a B12 vitamin deficiency or are you thinking of something else?
If deficient in B12, can I ask for injections without a prescription or is a blood test required?
