More sexual violence by teachers in Thai schools
Thailand's education ministry receives an average of four to five complaints per month about teachers who sexually misbehave towards same-sex students, the Bangkok Post reports.
36 fashion students from Srinakharinwirot University traveled the country for their graduation assignment to incorporate a traditional craft into their creations. The introduction turned out to be an eye-opener. Recently they presented their creations at a fashion show in Siam Center.
My girlfriend's cousin got his degree from Sukothai Thammathirat Open University in Nonthaburi. His father is dead and his mother old and sick. To prevent no one from congratulating him on the achieved result, two cousins took on this task. And I went along as the farang icing on the cake.
Oh mother, what is it hot
As February draws to a close, the hottest time of the year is in sight; the months of March, April and May. Then comes the rains and then the floods, if everything goes as it did last year.
Thai students must be able to remain seated
Pupils who underperform should be able to continue their classes instead of moving on to the next grade despite the risk of dropping out. Thongthong Chandarangsu, Secretary General of the Office of the Education Council, said this at a seminar yesterday. In the long term, these students will not be helped if they are allowed to move on. The Ministry of Education allows grade repetition when a student falls below a certain number of points…
Paper textbook becomes e-book
Textbook publishers should remember that the future belongs to the ebook. Pheu Thai wants to give all schoolchildren a tablet PC – free of charge. Thai hope in fearful days….
If Thailand does not drastically reform the current education system, the country will find itself in a well-known environment in a few years; in the group of countries commonly referred to by the term “third world country” rather than the current “middle income country” an IMF term referring to countries on the verge of joining the coveted club of “developed countries” This bold statement does not come…
Higher education, Thailand's Achilles' heel
Following a recent 'Reuters News' article about the education system in Thailand, the English-language press in Thailand has sparked a heated discussion about the future of education. Strangely enough, the Thai newspapers have not (yet) picked up on this news. According to government figures, Thailand has the highest education budget of the Southeast Asian countries. With 20% of the annual budget, it is in proportion to the size of the country, even to ...
