When was the last time you danced?

I admit it wholeheartedly, dancing is not my favorite activity, not in the past and still not now. Still, if I have to believe the scholars and my now deceased Dutch wife, dancing is the ultimate form of relaxation.

In my younger years, many friends went to dance school to learn the foxtrot, cha-cha-cha, tango and whatever other dance forms there are. I was brought up in a Christian way and that frivolous dancing didn't fit into that. Of course you want to participate, if only because you were allowed to, and at school parties I shuffled and shuffled quite a bit with my female classmates.

When I was married, I couldn't escape a dance course, because my wife loved it. For the connoisseurs, I got bronze, but don't ask how. Years later, I had to hear that I was always counting out loud in my wife's ears, one, one, one two three, etc. Silver was not in it, because it also featured several South American dances and that was too much for me.

With bronze in my pocket, I did dance at parties and parties, but my wife preferred to choose another male dance partner, one who didn't constantly breathe down her neck. She was glad that she could indulge herself in dance, I was glad that I was exempted.

Now that time has progressed and I live in Thailand, a lot has changed in “dancing”. There are hardly any opportunities to practice ballroom dancing, the only thing that remains, or rather what has replaced it, is what I summarize as hip-hop. Two people stand opposite each other and move uncoordinated to the music (music?) of today. I too have danced in discos like Lucifer, Marine and Hollywood. As long as you're having fun!

Still, I danced once again to the music of the past. The first time was a few years ago during the Coronation Festival of the Dutch Association in Pattaya. Didn't go too well with my Thai wife, but we had fun. In addition, a few danced in the Bamboo Bar and at another festive meeting of the Dutch Association.

But a new opportunity is emerging. Once again the Dutch Association in Pattaya has organized a dinner dance with the excellent B2F band Thursday 29 October expectant.

I recommend that you read the details at www.nvtpattaya.org/nvtp and take part in this dance fest, because when was the last time you danced?
