Pattaya offers all kinds of recreation and that includes diving. In terms of to dive Pattaya is one of the oldest and most exotic dive sites in Southeast Asia. The region therefore has a rich marine fauna.

The conditions for coral growth in the Gulf of Thailand are very good, with an average sea temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and exceptionally clear water. The spectacular underwater world looks at its best and because of the warm sea, the diver often does not need a wetsuit.

Another advantage of the area around Pattaya is that the diving season lasts 12 months! Unlike some other dive sites in Thailand where underwater conditions can improve or worsen depending on the season, the quality of the diving remains around Pattaya generally the same throughout the year.

Pattaya has several diving schools and the specialty is diving to shipwrecks. Diving to a shipwreck is attractive because it is an artificial reef in the sea, where a special underwater life of animals and plants develops. There are now five shipwrecks near Pattaya, which can be visited through a diving school (eg Seafari Dive Center) led by experienced diving instructors.

In the video below you can see a group of Dutch people who go diving in the vicinity of Pattaya.

A beautiful video, those people visibly had a lot of fun that day! For wreck diving, I think for more experienced divers, see: https://www.thailandblog.nl/duiken/wrakduiken-rondom-pattaya/

I have dived in Pattaya in various places. Nowadays I go to Phuket to dive, I like it better there. you can do day trips and liveaboard. There is a Dutch diving school in Kata that can arrange ales for you. I think that's great.
