More than a thousand pupils in classes 3 and 6 (groups 5 and 8 primary school) in eight provinces are illiterate. They can neither read nor write in their mother tongue. This was revealed by Inspector General Prasert Boonruang of the Ministry of Education during a recent inspection trip.
