Apple Pay is available from today for Dutch users of KLM's iOS app. With Apple Pay, customers can quickly, easily and securely pay for airline tickets and additional services, such as checked baggage or seats with extra legroom.

Adding the Apple Pay option to the KLM app will further increase customer convenience. Customers only need to link their payment card to Apple Pay (once only), after which they can authorize payments in the KLM app using a fingerprint (Touch ID) or facial scan (Face ID). The payment card must be issued by a bank that works with Apple Pay.

Security and privacy are the spearheads of Apple Pay. When customers use a payment card with Apple Pay, the card number is not stored on the device or on Apple servers. Instead, a unique 'Device Account' number is assigned, which is encrypted and securely stored on the device used. Each transaction is authorized using a one-time, unique, dynamic security code.

More than 100.000 active users per day

The KLM app has been downloaded millions of times and currently supports more than 100.000 active users per day. Apple Pay has been added to the existing functionalities of the KLM app, such as up-to-date flight information, booking flights, online check-in and seat reservations. KLM is working with payment provider Adyen for the integration of Apple Pay in the KLM app.

ING has been supporting Apple Pay in the Netherlands for a few days now, but all other banks do not yet.
Nice of KLM that they are leading the way, and that they are now being advertised here, but otherwise I think the news value is very low.
By the way, I prefer to use their own American Express credit card, which also earns me miles.

At the bunq bank you have been able to use Apple Pay for years by means of a detour. Don't want anything else. Highly recommended!

    And what about Android users?

Stay tuned Jeffrey, it's about “Apple pay”, so a payment method exclusively for Apple equipment. And well, Android is not Apple. Even KLM, with the best will, cannot change that. LOL
Just use the KLM / Amex card, you will save miles right away.
