New: KLM holidays to Thailand
A complete holiday with plane ticket and hotel to Bangkok? It is not future music because airline KLM is starting its own travel organization.
KLM Netherlands CEO Harm Kreulen confirmed the ambitious plans this week. And he has good news; prices are structurally reduced by 10 to 20 percent.
The travel industry in the Netherlands is less happy and fears a price war which will undoubtedly lead to new bankruptcies among tour operators.
Among other things, KLM will introduce a 'lowest price guarantee' and booking costs will be significantly reduced. From 10 euros per person to 10 euros per booking, regardless of the number of tickets. Consumers will soon also be able to change a ticket more easily.
The airline thinks it will be able to recruit tens of thousands of additional customers by starting its own travel organization, mainly via the internet.
Whether the travel industry in the Netherlands is not happy with it is their problem. It's about my wallet.
If I have to pay € 25,00 reservation costs and € 35,00 administration costs at a travel agency and € 10,00 at KLM, then you take KLM. What is wrong with that. If KLM promises that the trips are 10 to 20% cheaper! now i know.
See you at KLM.
that's wonderful now living up to it in one go without a transfer is wonderful and a peaceful start to your holiday
KLM forgets that putting together trips requires a completely different approach than planning full flights. they can make very smart use of the knowledge that on certain days and weeks the aircraft have a lower occupancy and can therefore use a boost. In the past there have been several shoemakers who have tried a different last. after taking the necessary blows they all returned sooner or later to your old and familiar last.
KLM first reduced the revenue model of the loyal travel agents to a peanut by means of the Zwaan Covenant, and now they are again abusing the same travel agents and travel organisations.
Let KLM limit itself to serving the high segment (sorry rob/Silverjet) and improve the quality of the seating comfort in their cramped aircraft before plunging into a market with many pitfalls. Have the GSC ask KLM for bank guarantees for the entire turnover of KLM and not for a subsidiary company that has been set up. possibly Emiel's new flame has turned his head so much that she can pose in the glossy websites etc. that will be put on the market.
in any case, a strong trump card to keep the klm colors blue and a blue can be less noticeable there.
K prefers to lift along on other people's success.
Lower prices often, if not always, mean less service and less flexibility, and more standardization. For one customer that is attractive, for another customer it is not. (e.g. the self check-in of your luggage via a baggage machine at Schiphol). On one flight it is not a problem, on another flight it is.. (e.g. paying for your coffee, water, food).
You will see: the basic airfares go down, the costs for (additional) services go up. It has to be either length or width.
This is also good news for Belgian travelers. KLM often has fantastic offers when departing from Antwerp.
And then friendly Thai crew and flight attendants, will they finally understand?
I'll check it out when the time comes. What strikes me and many others is that quite a few people in this and other discussions somewhat berate KLM. They are actually complaints that are not even that difficult for Camiel. Just normal legroom and a little more service and the feeling that you are a guest / customer. KLM also has some good sides. Are punctual, active on Twitter and the rest with info, often fly direct, now also have a neat BC and they speak Dutch and serve red cabbage in the Holland month. And no, I am not a KLM employee. I always fly Eastern when I go east.
