Dear editors, it is right that you explicitly state under comment 1 that some parts of the flight may be operated by partners of Etihad. By clicking on flight details when booking, you will find out which part of the trip is not flown with Etihad. The price is very attractive, but do realize that Air Berlin, for example, offers significantly less comfort than Etihad itself. If that does not bother you and a stopover is not an obstacle, then you can indeed fly to Thailand for a bargain.

Friends of mine who want to visit me have asked me for advice on how to fly to BKK (and back). I have referred them to the Thailand blog, but their desire will not be fulfilled. This concerned the possibility of interrupting the journey. Not just for a few hours, but at least for more than a night. Especially older people just think that if you get in at night (or late in the afternoon), in AMS or DUS, it takes way too long before you see a bed. So somewhere along the way people want to spend the night, if necessary - making a virtue of necessity - be a tourist for a day (or even 2 days) in the country in question, and only then, of course by far preferably during the day, continue flying. The best way to fly back would be to leave BKK early in the morning. You then fly with the sun and get off (at least in the summer) in AMS in daylight. I believe EVA offers such a flight; whether that is still the case, my friends can check, but the problem is mainly in the journey from west to east. And yes, you can forget to fly back with the same airline if you want it to be as just described (both there and back). But even if you pay for such an expensive plane seat, if you spend a long night in it and then arrive at your destination when the day starts there, you've been breaking your teeth.

Not every Thailand visitor is focused on the cheapest tickets. Many choose consciously, with which airline they fly and which "not".
Etihad Airways is the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates based in Abu Dhabi.
I have been flying to Thailand for about 15 years, at least twice a year. Always direct. I have never gone above 2 euros.
A stopover at an airport in the Middle East is not an option for me. I have too much of a “western sense of freedom” for that and my aim is to get through life as pleasantly as possible.
In addition to the extra loss of time, it often also costs extra expenditure to get through that time. The average of these can add up quickly. (So add to the ticket price.)
And then we are not even talking about the security measures that can have a pretty grim character.
I have yet to meet the first Free Thailander who uses an airline from the Middle East. Usually these are bookings made by travel agencies.
Indeed, you often read on a site that there are only X number of seats available. This has to do with “sales technique”, and can be seen as a means of coercion.
Unfortunately, for reasons of my own, I cannot reveal the name of the airline of my choice. Advertising and revealing my booking method could be counterproductive for me. And a Thailand visitor should be able to understand that. 🙂

Sloototter writes: “For reasons of my own, I unfortunately cannot give the name of the airline………….etc”. He completely ignores the intention of this blog. The feigned secrecy makes no sense. After all, there are only three airlines that fly directly to Bangkok from the Netherlands: KLM, EVA Air and China Air. Sloototter is trying to make it clear to me that he knows the ultimate booking method and that we as blog readers can guess what that method is. I don't think giving each other riddles is the purpose of this blog. You can fly cheaply with any of these three companies, there is nothing secretive about that. One just has to visit the three sites often and “strike” at the right time. We have been flying with Eva of China in January for 14 years and always book directly with the company. Costs are then between 575 and approximately 725 euros for a 3-month ticket. What Sloototter wants to tell us is how good he is and how stupid the rest are.

I flew with Etihad last month and this was just a real pleasure, also in the Coral Economy Class. For the price indicated here. Both flight parts were performed by Eithad himself. The transfer to Abu Dhabi took 2 hours and there were no such restrictions of the aforementioned 'Western sense of freedom'. You get out, walk to the gate and after waiting 20 minutes you can board again.

Perhaps the best man should consider flying that way, because the food, the facilities in the plane (everyone with their own monitor with the latest films, series, live TV and internet for a fee) were good. You can even roam on the plane with your own mobile phone. There was free (alcoholic) drinks for the passengers and enough legroom for everyone.

    To be repeated.

If you have enough time, it is a nice package, the service is often, as mentioned above, excellent.

We have been flying with Etihad to Bangkok for 3 years now. Well cared for. Service is therefore excellent. The waiting time of sometimes 3 hours is not too bad. You can enjoy shopping and marvel at the luxury items that are sold there. Only we have never been able to find a ticket under € 550. Usually around € 610, which is already much cheaper than other companies.

I can join this. The prices are okay. The service is very good; And what I especially like is that you can take up to 30 kg of luggage. Departs from Bru.
This is also allowed at Emirates, but only when departing from Ams. Upon inspection, the connections seem less good at intermediate stops. Since I have to go further than BKK, I try to arrive there in the morning.

The overview states that payment can only be made by credit card or American express.
But if this flight is nevertheless booked via 1 of the different Dutch ticket providers, where I have also seen this open jaw offer, can it not also be paid “normally” via iDeal? Or is 1 of the above payment methods really required?

Btw, also flew with Etihad the last time, really liked it for a low price (550 PP), even opted for a 3-day stopover in Dubai on the outward journey, because there is a free shuttle bus from Etihad from Abu Dhabi to Dubai. (Make a reservation)

How do you book something like this? It doesn't work for me when choosing multiple destinations. And a return is based on the same 2 airports.

Have been flying with different companies for many years now. My worst experience was with KLM; Promise a lot and give little. The train journey from Antwerp to Schiphol was supposedly included, but they knew nothing about it in Antwerp, I just had to recover the train costs from KLM. So never again with this airline for me. For a few years now, I have been flying directly from Brussels to Bangkok and back for about 750 to 800 euros and I am very satisfied with Thai airways. Good service, good food, etc. Flight time about 11 hours, which is long enough for me is.So Thaiairways You will see me in Oct;back

    • Jerry Q8 says up

@Edgard; I have to respond anyway. Have been traveling with KLM from Antwerp Central for years. Where you can buy tickets, simply show your e-ticket at "international travel" and within 2 minutes you will receive a ticket for the Tallys on track 22. The conductor will stamp your ticket and you will take your seat. 58 minutes later you are at (below) Schiphol. Why promise so much and give little?

    • tlb-i says up

Strange that I only have to pay € 529 to € 589 for the same service you mentioned?. And that with free choice of seat and food, free wine, beer, etc. on board. Of course NOT with Thai Airways. They can no longer be found even in the top 25 ranking.

  10. van wemmel edgard says up

To GerrieQ8 I spoke about 5 years ago. The ticket included the trip back and forth from Antwerp to Schiphol with the gepone train. Now that problem has been solved. Take the train from Ostend to Brussels airport and Kees is ready for 750 a 800 ezuro and am very happy with that.Egard

Give me Emirates, around €600 to BKK from Amsterdam-Dubai, stay there one or more nights and then continue to BKK. Flying in the latest Airbus A380, super! Highly recommended, even if you want to continue flying immediately with a stop-over. When booking, make sure that you have a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 hours, you really need that in Dubai, so big! Super!

Tip 1. Jet Air via Bombay from Brussels Great to do.
Tip 2. Thai Airways from Frankfurt. Direct flight with onward connections to regional airports In Thailand

Just booked via Jet Air for 489 Euro and 12 hours travel time to Bangkok in mid-August there mid-September back

      Rory

Tip 2 – Can also be done from Brussels, but Frankfurt may be more accessible for you

      • rori says up

Sorry, but just search through a German travel agency. The tickets are often much cheaper from here.
Especially if you add a domestic flight with Thai to it.

        • RonnyLatPhrao says up

From Brussels you also have 2 domestic flights included and finally I would have to go to Frankfurt. I don't know if there are any significant differences if there are any.

With Emirates you travel within Germany for free by train return to the airport, incl. in the fast super modern ICE. There you can even reserve your seat at a window in the train via I-Net.
