Emirates, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, will launch an extra flight to Bangkok from December 1.

This fourth daily flight from Dubai to Bangkok is operated with the Airbus 380. Emirates also flies four times a week to Phuket.

This additional flight increases the number of seats to Bangkok from 3.053 to 4.500 per day, the highest number on the route from the Gulf to Thailand.

The airline says the bombing at the Erawan shrine has not affected passenger numbers. “We continue to see strong demand on our routes to Thailand,” said Jabr Al-Azeeby (pictured), manager for Thailand and Indochina. "When demand increases, we will certainly consider adding more flights."

In addition to its Bangkok-Dubai and Phuket-Dubai routes, Emirates flies daily from Bangkok to Hong Kong, Sydney and Christchurch. The A380 flies between Bangkok and Hong Kong, on the other two lines a Boeing 777-300ER.

That the number of seats to Bangkok goes from 3.053 to 4.500 per day with 1 extra flight is of course not possible.
A while ago I read that Thai Airways, partly due to the Gulf state airlines, is in serious trouble.
And so these companies eradicate everything that comes their way. In the future we will therefore become more and more dependent on them. Too bad they haven't figured this out yet.

Thai Airways is a partner on this route with Emirates.

The original article talks about the capacity between the UAE and Thailand.
7 + 4 = 11 flights a week, at about 500 passengers, round trip, makes about 11.000 a week, is about an increase of 1500 a day. That's how it's supposed to be.

Today I received an email from Emirates that they now sell airline tickets to Bangkok from 547 euros. These are only bookable to a limited extent and there are conditions. So for the quick decision makers…………

A small correction to the editor. Your first sentence is incorrect! Emirates is not the flag carriers of the UAE.

It is one of the UAE airlines based in Dubai, just as Etihad is another based in Abu Dhabi.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a country consisting of 7 emirates, of which Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the largest and most famous.

On Wikipedia I read that Emirates is the national airline of (the emirate) Dubai with Dubai International Airport as its home base. Since 2010, Emirates also uses Dubai's new airport, Maktoum International Airport (established 1985).

On Wikipedia I also read that Etihad is the national airline of (the country) UAE with its home base (the capital) Abu Dhabi (founded in 2003).

Apparently neither are privately owned, Emirates of (the Sultan of) Dubai and Etihad of the central government of the UAE.

So it seems that the editors are not quite right, but neither is Kjay. Both companies are in "state hands".
