EVA Air is said to have canceled a total of 71 flights on Friday. This will affect approximately 15.000 passengers. The reason for the cancellation of the flights is a strike by cabin crew who want more salary

That happens when a stubborn trade union calls for a strike. They want more pay, who doesn't. Now so many customers are losing their money and so is society. Soon all travelers will be whining that flying has become too expensive... I'm glad I haven't lived in Europe for 25 years! First it was Ryan Air Asn's turn and, according to the Dutch court, the ex-pilots will receive millions in compensation. Something like 5 years' salary... they should also put those judges on disability benefits. Where is that going? Last read that one of those unions even had internal strikes due to poor personnel policy
Trade unions are a great asset and desperately needed in this greedy society. Wildcat strikes, on the other hand, can be improper and you have judges for that. It's good that they don't go into disability as Steve would like......

Rebooked to KLM flight KL5 within 875 minutes. I'll be in Thailand sooner too. Simple is that….
After being on hold for 30 minutes, the call was disconnected.
Hopefully someone will be on the phone in the next 30 minutes...
That tape that all lines are occupied is of course for show….they are not there at all…
I don't think there is anyone in that office and that tape (it seems to be recorded by a child of 8) is just for show!
Hello Constantine,
Would you like to rebook to KLM? And then earlier in Thailand. I saw that KLM had to detour around Iran due to the issue and was delayed for 2½ hours. Eva Air has recently been faster than KLM, which also had to make a detour due to the situation around Kashmier.
We are in Thailand, and fly back with earoflot. At your own expense 900 euros. CheapTickets. The communication with this company is very bad, do offer an alternative that you can fly back 6 days later and receive a 0 euro compensation. Because we have booked a return trip ourselves, they offer 60 euros pp. X
My flight from Chiangmai via Bangkok to Amsterdam with Eva Air has been cancelled
flight number BR75 what should I do and how do I get out?
Willem
Just back from Bangkok to Amsterdam
Rebooked from Eva Air to KLM except for a few hours delay with departure from Bangkok
Plane full to the last place.
With only downside, therefore, seat selection is not possible,
Thank you Thailandtravel Rotterdam for rebooking
Incredibly poor communication with Eva Air Amsterdam. After 4 times half an hour on hold I had it. I also booked direct with Eva Air as I always have. So not through a travel agency. I also rebooked myself, Also via klm, (the prices went up there, in 2 days, from € 750 to € 1150, ticket one way) Must now be in Bangkok next Thursday morning, hence the rebooking.
Does anyone have any idea what we can do regarding compensation from Eva Air?
Do European regulations apply because the aircraft also departs from one European country?
Wouldn't it be better if we all bundle our complaints and try to get reimbursed through an organizational story and expenses?
My son had just called and the english speaking person said that the 600 will be reimbursed due to European directives. I will google it when I am in Bangkok….and when I return to the Netherlands I will call…
European regulations apply here. Yet the companies are often very difficult when they are spoken to, when a claim is made. You have organizations that fight out the claim. Costs you roughly 25 to 30% of the proceeds.
One problem, however, is that companies often invoke force majeure. If that is the case, you will not receive any compensation. However, it is often very clear that it is not force majeure and the airlines still reimburse and pay out. Of which, roughly 25 to 30% goes to the organization that fought the claim on behalf of the passenger.
A strike will probably be seen by society as force majeure. In this case, this may have to be fought out in court. There have been many judicial decisions involving strikes. Sometimes the judge found that there was force majeure, sometimes not.
My advice is therefore: register with one of the organizations that can submit claims for you. Costs you a few cents if you're right, but usually costs you nothing if you're not right.
Doing it yourself, so filing a claim with EVA air yourself, seems to me to have little chance of success. By default, every claim is simply rejected!
I too had a flight for Tuesday with Eva to Bkk. Called, had to wait 55 minutes, but helped nicely and the flight was rebooked by them to KLM.
When a few years ago it was not possible to fly during that volcanic eruption, EVA air's service was also very poor.
On the other hand, planes simply don't fly without a crew, and there are limits to what EVA air can do.
I can imagine that the branches prefer not to take calls from angry customers who demand a solution that they do not have.
No crew on board just means no flying.
The solution must come from the head office.
Let's hope for the strikers no one flies EVA anymore. “Do the strikers have no work (busy) anymore”
Received an e-mail on Friday afternoon regarding cancellation of return flight, next Thursday, to BKK from partner. Within a minute of receiving it, I called EVA's number, which turned out to be completely unreachable.
Then booked a single trip with Emirates for the same day (she MUST return that day due to Obligations). Also tried KLM but there the flight cost double the Emirates price, then submitted a request for a refund on the EVA website. It turns out that it can take 2 months before you get your money back. I am also going to file a claim based on the relevant EU regulation. EVA does of course invoke force majeure because of the strike, but in the context of this legislation that would not apply in the event of a strike by its own flying personnel, it seems. I'm looking into this further.
According to EVA, we would be entitled to a claim of 600 pp
I had a ticket with flight BR75 on 22/06 from BKK to AMS. Friday 21/06 around 15:00 I was notified by SMS and e-mail by EVA that my flight had been cancelled.
No risk was taken and immediately booked a flight with Thai Airways BKK to Brussels with departure on Saturday 22/06 at 00:50. Cost me 13.500 Baht but I got home stress-free and on time.
Don't forget to request a refund – if your ticket was purchased online from EVA, you can do so via the EVA website. It was said to take about 2 months.
I bought my ticket at Budgetair, the claim for a refund has been submitted + a claim for the extra costs incurred. He who does not try can not Win.
Today I received a text message that my return light from Bangkok to Amsterdam on Saturday 29 June has also been cancelled. Booked directly with Eva Air. Called the office in Amsterdam and within 10 minutes someone on the line and rebooked to June 30 with KLM back. Service was so good for me! They think along with you on the phone.
Also received a message this morning that our flight was canceled on Saturday 29/6.
I booked through Flugladen and so contacted them. There I was told that they could only rebook to another EVA flight or refund the tickets. I didn't agree with that.
I then called EVA and was rebooked by them without any problems to KLM, a day earlier, but I don't think that's a problem at all, on the contrary.
Apart from waiting on the phone (normal given the circumstances I think), I find the service of EVA ticket team very good.
Flugladen, on the other hand,… I have to think about that again before I book through them again (it was a bit cheaper).
My flight of June 29 also rebooked to KLM without any problems, still for 2 adults and 2 kids. No extra costs, and back with Eva (they have to stop striking). Half an hour on hold at Eva air, I think it has been solved correctly.
