Visa for Thailand: Can I switch to an OA Visa with a Non Immigration O, Multy Entry?
Is it possible for a Non Immigration O, Multy Entry, to apply for a switch to an OA Visa at the Immigration Office where I am staying in Thailand before the end of the annual validity date?
I would then meet the necessary proofs that I have to submit. Married to a Thai and 400.000 thb in an account. If possible, how many times can I renew an OA Visa and when does the validity of the OA Visa end?
Thanks in advance.

Dear Herwin,
You cannot switch to a Non-immigrant “OA” visa in an immigration office.
You can only apply for a Non-immigrant “OA” visa at the Thai Embassy that is located in the country of which you have the nationality, or where you are officially registered. Then, by the way, the 800/000 Baht requirements apply and not those for the married, ie 65/000 Baht.
What you can do is ask for a year extension based on your Thai marriage. A so-called “Thai marriage” or “Thai wife” year extension.
30 days (in some cases 45 days) before the end of your 90 day stay, obtained with your Non-immigrant “O” visa, you can start the application.
Normally you will first receive an “Under consideration stamp” of 30 days. That gives immigration time to conduct some investigations and you can probably expect a home visit as well. On the day Immigration has notified you, please go to Immigration to pick up your final year extension.
Then next year, 30 days before the end of your annual extension, you can apply for another annual extension. You can then repeat this annually and this as long as you continue to meet the conditions.
Success.
