Dear Ronnie,

I want to apply for a NON-O visa with Multiple Entry in The Hague based on marriage in Thailand. I can't find anywhere whether the original marriage certificate is required for proof of marriage?

I only have a copy of the front at the moment and they are too busy at the embassy to answer my question.

Any advice is most welcome.

Best regards,

Tim

Dear Tim,

It just says “… Certificate of Marriage or its equivalents (2)” with no further details.

I do not know what is accepted as evidence in The Hague and can only compare with Antwerp, where I used to get my Non-immigrant “O” based on marriage.

In Antwerp it is (or was) the case that a copy of the front is not sufficient. I suspect you mean the Khor Ror 3. You must hand it in and it must be a Dutch translation. No problem with regard to the latter, because in order to register your marriage in Belgium, it had to be translated already. You can use that translation.

In Antwerp, a recent extract from your civil status is also required. You can easily get it at the town hall. After all, the Khor Ror 3 only proves that you were married at some point, but it does not prove that you are still married. Such an extract from your civil status may also suffice for the embassy in The Hague because it says "or its equivalents".

I don't know where your original Khor Ror 3 and Khor Ror 2 are. If your marriage is registered in the Netherlands, they must also have the necessary documents about it. You can usually get a copy of that. If they are in Thailand, you may be able to have them sent to you.

Perhaps there are readers who have recent experience applying for a Non-immigrant “O” based on marriages in The Hague.

I would also contact the embassy. Can also be done by email.

Regards,

RonnyLatYa

    I always get an extract from the marriage register at my municipality.
    For almost 10 years, never a problem.

    *Visa application form (from website)
    * Passport
    * Photography
    * Evidence of adequate finance
    **Salary slip
    ** Dutch Bank account
    *Certificate of birth
    *Certificate of marriage
    * Copy of my wife's ID card (Thai)

    Sorry shipped a little fast.

    With the above I always get my Non Imm O multiple entry in The Hague

    Copy of your wife's ID signed by your wife.

      What Bert writes is absolutely correct, don't forget to bring 175 euros (was 150 euros) in cash, debit cards are not possible at the Thai office in The Hague. I also have a Thai ID card (pink), including a copy of it. Not immediately necessary, but appreciated.

    I just got my visa back. A copy of my marriage certificate was sufficient for me (the Thai one, not translated). I have never needed an extract from the municipality, not even an extract of birth. In addition to the above documents, I always add a signed invitation letter from my wife and this time I received a travel plan that I still had to fill in.

    Do not always find the information very clear, so always think, better to take too much than too little.

      Incidentally, I did have a copy of all 4 sides

      I always send this list to the TH embassy in The Hague 2 weeks before I am going to apply for my visa and ask if there are any additional requirements and if everything is complete. I get an affirmative answer to this every year and then I take those documents with me and also print out my email exchange that I put at the top..
      I have had to fill in that travel plan for years, it is just a list where you fill in 89 days to leave the country and re-enter. Is a plan, so certainly not binding
