Dear Ronnie,

I have a NON-IMM OA Multiple annual visa. I also have annual travel insurance with Allianz Golden protection. Is this enough? Do I have to apply for a re-entry every time I leave Thailand?

Thanks for the information.

Regards,

Patrick

Dear Patrick,

If you have a Non-immigrant OA Multiple entry and this was obtained before October 31, 2019, you normally still fall under the old scheme. After all, when you obtained it, health insurance was not yet a requirement. Normally they will not be required upon entry.

Whether your “Allianz Golden protection” will suffice?

Possibly to obtain a Non-immigrant OA next time, but that will be decided by the Thai Embassy. Normally, local airlines are accepted on application, as long as they meet the minimum requirements. When extending a period of stay, obtained with a Non-immigrant OA, it should normally be an insurance policy that appears on the list that has been accepted. (See list in link below).

“First year, all applicants can buy health insurance from insurance companies in their owned countries or authorized insurance company in Thailand. When the applicants want to renew the visa, the applicants must buy insurance from authorized insurance companies in Thailand only. Any inquiries on completing Insurance application can be addressed at each insurance company.”

It is certainly not a bad idea to ask your insurance company if they want to fill in the following form. If your insurance meets these minimum requirements, I suspect that should not really be a problem. After all, it is only a statement that you are insured for the requested minimum amounts.

Since your Non-immigrant OA has multiple entry, it is not necessary to take a “Re-entry” as long as you make those entries within the validity period of your visa. After all, your Multiple entries are then still valid. If you enter after the validity period of your visa, a "Re-entry" may be necessary if you want to keep the previously obtained residence period.

Do I understand correctly from this story that you will eventually need Thai health insurance?
I apply for a non-immigrant O annual visa in The Hague every year. I am and will remain a Dutch resident. Will my Dutch health insurance eventually no longer be sufficient for this visa?

@BramSiam, you have no business here, you have a Non O, the issue is only about Visa OA holders for now.

Why don't many read the articles?

I think Ronny has explained many times that no health insurance is required when extending an existing OA visa.

Dear all. Read the recent articles and search for the desired topic in the search box.

Is that what you say, Ronny, existing OA, no policy, etc., correct?
for policies issued before 31/10/2019, after that no longer required at some offices ( Jomtien) but others (Chiang Mai I believe ).

Meant for VISA issued before 31/10/2019.

In my opinion, a travel insurance policy, even if it is valid for a year, is still valid for a certain number of days per trip.

Willem, you wrote the above comment, the link does not work, but your comment is worth responding to..

I asked DKV to complete and sign this document from the Thai government and it was refused, legally it is not possible, it is a foreign document and we are not allowed; I did receive a certificate with all information (policy number, amount on an annual basis insured(50.000 euros),date of entry of this policy,my name and date of birth etc..... but will immigration accept this document?question of a million!!I am 73 and i will never take thai insurance it is useless , cover too low and cost too high between 80000 and 120000 baht. Stay calm and we'll see, I have to do my 22 days on November 90 and will ask all information for my extension in February 2020 and then think and provide information through this website.
I am under visa OA since 2012 so in extension and if one read between the lines it is (currently) only for the visas OA , OX after 31/10/2109.

You give a very good analysis, hope Immigration accepts this as sufficient, because it is even a surplus of insured value.
I completely agree with you that the mandatory Thai policies are not sufficient if there is really something wrong. Klpt you are in the wrong group OA, we remain calm and wait, please let us know if you have been for the extension.

I know several people here who arrived 10 years ago or more with an OA visa. In the meantime, they have already received ten NON Re extensions.

But they have also long since obtained a new passport . Those new passports only contain those extensions. Nowhere is there an original OA visa, of course.
Are the extensions created on an OA different than those on a NON -O ? Because otherwise I don't really see what immigration would base on what kind of visa people ever started with?

    • RonnyLatYa says up

The new passports not only contain the extensions.
In a new passport, the data of the original visa is always taken over. Is in a stamp.
Immigration also sees this in their database since when and with which visa you started and how many extensions you have already obtained. They don't need your passport for that.
And no, there is no difference between an extension of a residence period obtained with a Non-O or a Non-OA. That's just the same.
