Questioner: John

To obtain a Non-immigrant OA visa, one must demonstrate that they have health insurance. In some cases, a medical examination is required to be accepted for insurance. Since I am still in the Netherlands, this will have to take place in the Netherlands.

Where can I have that done? My GP?

What are your experiences with that?

This insurance and the amounts is only to obtain the OA visa and must cover the period of maximum stay ie one year. So pay attention to your departure date and when the insurance starts so that the entire period is covered. As far as I know, you can use a foreign insurance policy to apply for the visa, but in case of an extension of the period of stay, it must be a Thai insurance policy that is on the list: longstay.tgia.org/

Don't forget that the insurance company must also complete the Foreign Insurance Certificate (FIC) and present it to you upon application and/or renewal. Can also be requested by immigration upon arrival in Bangkok (was already the case before Corona).

I think this insurance is separate from the $100 COVID-000 insurance that is now also required to enter Thailand. But maybe you can combine and the $100 COVID-000 insurance can also be used to apply for your OA. This if your insurance also covers other matters than COVID-19 for the requested amounts and if it wants to fill in that FIC for that period. Maybe you should check with the embassy.

If there is already a medical examination requested by an insurance company, it will depend on what people want to see examined and to what extent your GP can already comply with this in his practice, I think.

Good tip to pay attention to the start date of the insurance!

I have heard from the thai insurance company that the insurance I am looking at meets the $100.000 Covid cover.
My general practitioner may carry out the medical examination. Whether he wants to is another story. I will have to go to a hospital for the x-ray.
The medical statement regarding those scary diseases, as part of the conditions for obtaining a visa, I have now received from my doctor.

I am Belgian still registered in Belgium but stay with an OA visa in Thailand, recently had my visa renewed with my hosp. insurance from Belgium and no problem at all, this insurance was accepted anyway, MUTAS HOSP. INSURANCE THE PRECAUTION.

That is important information for Belgians Alex.
If I understand correctly, you are therefore affiliated with the health insurance fund De Voorzorg. And on top of that you have taken out an extra hospital insurance (with the name Mutas) with the same health insurance fund.
Did Mutas also fill in the Foreign Insurance Certificate?
And in which immigration office did you get your year extension?

Every year just before my visa OA renewal I request proof of hosp.insurance from the PRECAUTION and MUTAS mails this proof to me, immigration Roi et

Which visa does not have those requirements regarding health insurance coverage?
    Is that the married visa?
