Questioner: Rudy

I plan to live in Thailand. I have tried to open a bank account in Kasikorn in the past but couldn't before I live there. But then how can I put 800.000 baht in an account for a visa?

You do not need an account in Thailand to apply for your visa at the embassy/consulate. Can be done with your account in the Netherlands/Belgium.

To apply for your annual extension in Thailand, the amount must be stated for 2 months with the application. Since you will have a residence period of 90 days upon arrival with your Non-immigrant O, there is less than a month left to open that account and deposit the necessary amount into it.

Normally you should be able to open a bank account with that Non-immigrant O visa. If it doesn't work at one Kasikorn branch, try another. And if Kasikorn doesn't work, try another bank.

If you know a Thai or someone who already has an account there, it often goes more smoothly. But since they say you have to live there first, that shouldn't be a problem.

Success.
