Thailand Visa Question No. 319/22: Borderrun Cambodia

Questioner: Herman

I would like to know if you might be able to come to Koh Kong with a fast catamaran from Koh Samui? Or maybe Poipet (Cambodia) from Koh Samui is a better option for some border runs?

But can you only enter Cambodia with an e-visa at Koh Kong and Poipet, or can you also buy a visa at those 2 border posts? because that is of course important to us.

Thanks everyone in advance! Thanks also for the previous responses to our questions!

It used to be that you could buy a visa everywhere, at least at border crossings where foreigners can make a “border run”, but an e-visa was not accepted everywhere.

May be different in the meantime, but I can't tell you how it's been since the reopening.

There may be readers who do have recent information on this.

    Dear Herman,
You will have to hire a very fast catamaran to get from Koh Samui to Koh Kong and you can't go to Poipet by boat.
I myself cycle from Ubon Ratchathani into Cambodia via Chiam Sa Ngam, the border crossing, when I go to SiemReap. And on the way back again Thai stamp for 30 days, now 45, and that can be extended by 30 days.
Please note that this is only allowed 2 times per calendar year!
Been closed for 2 years, but now open again. Also for the many Thai people who go to the Casino there just across the border, and they do not need to buy a visa.
