Questioner: Theo

My extension of stay expired last August. My wife is currently in the Netherlands and will leave for Thailand again on October 31. An appointment for a new Non-O visa for me is only possible on November 19

My question now is: Is it possible to travel to Thailand with a visa exemption and to convert it to a new Non-O extension based on Thai marriage at Immigration at Chang Wattana in Bangkok?

If this is possible then I can probably return to Thailand with my wife/

Thanks in advance,

Yes, that's possible.

You can convert your Tourist status (which is actually a Visa Exemption) to a Non-immigrant status. This is necessary if you want to obtain a year extension later.

Make sure that you have 15 days left when submitting the application, because that will take a while. Usually a week.

This is what people demand in Bangkok. Corresponds approximately to a year extension as a Thai Marriage

When it is allowed you will first get a residence period of 90 days. Just as if you would have entered with a Non-immigrant visa. You can then extend those 90 days for another year as before.

Success.
