Questioner: Hank

Might be a silly question, but I'll ask it anyway. Yesterday afternoon I received the message from the real estate agent that the sale of my apartment will definitely go ahead now that the buyer's bank has issued a mortgage guarantee. The handover is on July 7. And I have already bought and paid for a ticket to BKK dated July 9, 2022. I now want to apply for an e-visa Non Imm O of 3 months / 90 days, and then the usual annual extension in Thailand.

Now I hear from acquaintances that it is very busy with new applications and that it can take weeks and weeks before the visa application is approved, and that there is no way you can get information about the progress. Neither at the embassy nor via the e-visa website itself. There is no contact option.

That's why I thought it might be smart to apply for a 90-day visa based on Thai Marriage and an application based on Retirement at the same time via https://thaievisa.go.th/. I have all documents available for both visa types. I then pay 2 x € 70, but that is not the problem.

Strangely enough, I was able to download the Thailand PassPDF this morning, while I had only requested it early in the afternoon yesterday. Out of curiosity, I clicked open the relevant website this morning, and see that the download was present. So I got it, now the visa. But if I have to wait weeks for that, July 9 will be over and the Thailand Pass will no longer be valid. In other words- is it possible to make 2 applications at the same time?

Kind regards and thanks.

In principle, you can only have 1 valid visa in your passport and you can only make 1 application at a time. I don't even know if the system will accept it since your previous request will still be on "Processing". But I also don't understand the point of requesting 2 at all. It really doesn't go faster because you request 2. You are only going to cause confusion and if your visa would be delivered too late, it is you who took care of that by applying for 2 visas

I also do not hear anywhere that it takes weeks and weeks before the visa is granted. You have a month and that should normally suffice. It may take longer, but that will be due to the incompleteness of the file submitted by the applicant rather than due to the processing. Or there are those who apply for 2 visas…. Perhaps that is also a reason for the delays…

Just apply for your visa now, make sure your application is in order and it will be ready in time to leave on July 9.

And why is it strange that you have already been able to download the Thailand Pass? It has nothing to do with your visa and everywhere you can read that it is now delivered very quickly, as you have experienced yourself.
