Thailand Visa question No. 060/22: Tourist visa – Invitation letter and proof of residence
Questioner: Marc
I once looked for an application for an E-visa for 2 months. There are 2 questions I don't understand. I would stay with my Thai girlfriend's family.
- What information should be included in that letter that the family should write in the invitation letter from famously/friends? (Do you have an example)
- Which document do I need for confirmation of legal residence in a country where you are applying for the visa (in case you are not a national of the country where you are applying for the visa)? PS. there is a red star, so a document must be downloaded.
thanks in advance

1. I think you are Belgian and then you also have to look at what the embassy in Brussels says you have to deliver. What that actually counts.
Tourist visa – Royal Thai Embassy Brussels
2. Invitation letter
An example of an “Invitation letter” can be found on the website of the Thai embassy in Brussels.
Example-of-Invitation-Letter.pdf (thaiembassy.be)
In English this says:
Dear Consul, Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels
I, Mr./Mrs./Mrs………………Identification Number …………….certify that Mr……………..with Belgian nationality will travel to Thailand and stay with me at my adress ……
From date………………. Up to date …………………
(sign) ………………………
Include a copy of the ID and of the Tabien Baan or rental contract of the person who draws up the invitation.
The copies must state “Certified True Copy, dated and signed.
3. Legal residence in the country
It still says “in case you are not a national of the country where you are applying for the visa””
I think you are Belgian, right? Or not? If you are Belgian then this is not for you and your ID card will suffice as they ask on their website. Otherwise, you can request a Certificate of Main Residence from the municipality. Can be done online and is normally free.
