Questioner: Gerrit

At TB Immigr. I read info letter 014/21 at 9. Kor Ror 2 – Marriage registration. You must first obtain a new proof of marriage registration from the municipality a few days before. Attention, this proof is only valid for 30 days. Costs 20 Baht.

Does this mean my original stamped copy of the deed is no longer valid and I need to apply for a new one and why would they want to see a new copy of the deed

Your original is still valid. This is only a new extract and identical to the original as far as texts and names are concerned, such as prenuptial agreements, names of witnesses, etc. However, you will not find any signatures on this extract from persons who signed on the original, only their name is mentioned .

The only signature you will find is the one responsible for issuing the extract. The date of delivery of this certificate will also state a current date. From that date, the extract is still valid for 30 days.

The reason immigration (in this case) requires such a recent extract is that your original does prove that you were once married, but it does not prove that you are currently married. This extract proves that you are still officially married under Thai law.

Don't panic, you are still married to the same woman, on the same terms and on the same date. 😉
