Dear editors,

My Thai wife is going to the Netherlands in two weeks. She has her MVV stamp in her passport and can therefore enter the Netherlands without any problems.

My question is, which counter/gate should she report upon arrival? at the Immigration Department? Is this a lengthy process?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Paul

Dear Paul,

Actually, everything you need to know is in the positive letter (in which the IND indicates that it has no objection to the issue of the MVV) and in the Immigration Thai Partner file here on the blog: www.thailandblog.nl/wp-content/uploads/Immmigration -Thai-partner-to-the Netherlands1.pdf

Your partner travels to the Netherlands with the MVV, possibly via a neighboring country if you live near the border, for example. After arrival, your partner must report to the municipality as soon as possible, within 5 days at most, to be included in the BRP. Tip: try to arrange an appointment with the municipality now.

You then arrange the TB test and health insurance (using the BSN that your partner receives from the municipality) in the following days.

A week or two after the MVV has been issued, the VVR residence permit card will be ready at the IND. Right of residence is of course already there from the moment of arrival in the Netherlands.

You don't have to register anywhere else. You may be wrong about the reporting obligation that tourists (short stays) had with the Aliens Police. But that has been abolished for several years and did not apply to immigrants.

Rob V
