Ask VVR residence permit: Can I go to the US with my Thai girlfriend?
Dear editors,
My Thai girlfriend has been living with me in the Netherlands for a year and a half with an MVV residence permit. Now we have the plan to go on vacation to California (United States) in the summer of 2016. In my opinion, the MVV does not apply to this because we are traveling outside the EU. Can she enter America with a Thai passport and if so, what should we do?

Dear Rudolph,
Your partner is then 'only' Thai. She will therefore have to apply for a visa from the Americans under those conditions. Of course you indicate that she lives in the Netherlands on a VVR residence permit. If you have any questions, please contact the American Embassy in the Netherlands.
