Thailand visa question No. 082/20: In which immigration office should I apply for my annual extension?
Questioner: Peter
Are you required to apply for a retirement visa in the province where you live, or is it possible elsewhere?
Reaction RonnyLatYa
You must apply for your annual extension at the immigration office that administratively has your place of residence.
If you want to do it in another immigration office, you will first have to make an address change at immigration (TM28). Of course, if you want to return to your old place of residence later, you will have to make that change of address again.
You can apply for an extension of a period of stay obtained with a Tourist Visa or Visa Exemption at any immigration office. A tourist has no permanent residence and can apply for it at the immigration office where he/she is at that moment.
Regards,
RonnyLatYa
Hi Ronny/Peter
How I do it.
I live in Sakhon Nakhon normally I would have to go to immigration there to extend my retirement visa for a year.
Now there are a few things added to this office, such as proof that you deposit 65000 Bath into your bank every month, despite the fact that you submit a letter from the embassy or Austrian consulate.
I don't deposit so much money into my Thai bank every month that I don't need.
Plus that a refund of 2000,- bath is usually not done (annoying).
Not even a suit for re-entry with the same sheet.
So I'm going on a trip to Pattaya where I lived for 7 years.
Book a hotel and ask the hotel for a statement that I am staying there.
Go to the Austrian consulate and get a visa support letter there.
Go to Jomtien with all the copies I need plus completed form + passport photo and passport.
Hand in everything and just get my extension no nagging everything correct.
Time 20 min in next day 5 min ready.
And I have 14 days to see friends and acquaintances again.
Shorter is also possible, I also did it in 3 days.
Mrsg. and stay healthy.
Piotr
And what do you do with your 90 days of reporting, in Jomtien? Surely you will run into the lamp one day!!!
Don't run into the light at all.
You can live in Thailand where you want, whether for 3 days or 10 years in a place, it doesn't matter if your experience is different.
If you follow the rules, nothing will happen.
When I return to the place where I am going to live and I report to immigration in that place, nothing is wrong.
And can I also just do my 90 day report there.
I don't have to go to Jomtien for that.
I can also request a re-entry there.
Have fun moving and stay healthy.

Don't want to raise a finger, but I hope you're doing it in a way that doesn't induce the Immigration to tighten the loopholes a bit more. All these coastal grabs aren't necessary if you just play by the rules. By the way I have the best experience with the ID in Sakhon Nakhon. Perhaps there is something else underlying their attitude towards you. But I wish you good luck.
Willem these are not artifice.
And they are not loopholes either.
Or can you explain to me what those loopholes are?
You can apply for your extension anywhere as long as you have one home address
You have reported to immigration and your papers are in order.
You don't want to raise a finger, but you do and you suggest that I do something that is not acceptable.
And you also suggest that it must be my fault that they act like this in Sakhon nakhon.
I can tell you they are always nice and helpful and I always get a good answer to questions.
I myself am neatly dressed and so is my wife.
But if it happened to you 3 times, and my wife also says why do I do that, then it's up to me.
I've been living in Thailand for 12 years in different places but I couldn't do this one yet
And if you read Thailand blog you will have read before that some don't take it so closely.
gr. stay healthy
