Questioner: Hein
Subject: Visa Thailand

We have booked Thailand for 66 days and we now need to apply for a so-called non-immigrant visa for 90 days. I get that (for € 70) based on state pension and pension income. My boyfriend is 62, so he doesn't have a pension and won't get one either, because we owned a Thai restaurant together. He will not get a visa because he has no pension income. We have a joint bank account and demonstrable savings balance after the sale of the business.

Visa for tourism is only up to 60 days, says the embassy employee (and the embassy's site is completely unclear). Or you must have state pension. Does anyone know how this works?

With a tourist visa, you will indeed have a residence period of 60 days upon entry. But you can easily extend those 60 days in Thailand at immigration by 30 days. Costs 1900 Baht. You don't have to show or have AOW or anything for that.
