Questioner: Sjaak

I plan to apply for a tourist visa or non-immigrant O visa at the Consulate in Amsterdam in early 2021. There they now ask for, among other things, Covid-19 insurance up to $ 100.000 or unlimited.

Which health insurance policies have this in their package or issue it?

I only see the standard English explanation so far but it is not accepted.

Does anyone have experience with this or know of a health insurance policy?

I would greatly appreciate help.

At the Zilveren Kruis I received an English statement in which no maximum amounts are mentioned, but which explicitly states that Covid-19 related treatments are also covered.
That statement is accepted without any problem by the Thai Embassy in The Hague.
Incidentally, this is about more than Covid insurance:
"Health insurance that covers full medical expenses in Thailand, including COVID-19 with a minimum coverage of USD 100.000."

I think the official demand is still $100 just for COVID-000. Not for other medical expenses. This includes the 19 Outpatient/40 Inpatient.

They themselves refer to a website where you can buy those health insurances “Thai General Insurance Association (TGIA) provides a platform where COVID-19 Insurance with the associated insurance companies can be bought online http://covid19.tgia.org/
But there you see, among other things, that that insurance only covers COVID-19 and excludes all other diseases.

Do you of course have health insurance that covers COVID and all other diseases is of course also good.

Does your insurance cover both so much the better of course.

      Well they do…

      • Cornelis says up

Ronny, isn't it true that the 40.000/400.000 insurance policy is 'overruled' by the Centificate of Entry requirement, which is
' (4) A copy of valid Health Insurance certificate, indicating that the insurance covers all medical expenditures including COVID-19, and worth more than or at least USD 100,000.- '
        Still confusing, that insurance aspect.

        • RonnyLatYa says up

Then one should no longer mention that when applying for a Non-immigrant O or a re-entry and only demand that $ 100 insurance.

          But they do.

When requesting for a COE, holders of a valid Re-entry Permit (Retirement) who wish to return to Thailand using the Re-entry Permit (Retirement), are required to submit a copy of health insurance policy which covers the length of stay in Thailand with no less than 40,000 THB coverage for out-patient treatment and no less than 400,000 THB for in-patient treatment. Applicant may consider buying a Thai health insurance online at longstay.tgia.org. You may also be asked by the immigration to present the original insurance policy upon your arrival in Thailand.
          https://hague.thaiembassy.org/th/content/118896-measures-to-control-the-spread-of-covid-19

-Health insurance covering medical expenses in Thailand including a minimum coverage of 100,000 USD for COVID-19 (must be specifically mentioned)
          .....
An original health insurance policy which covers the length of stay in Thailand with no less than 40,000 THB coverage for outpatient treatment and no less than 400,000 THB for inpatient treatment. Applicant may consider buying a Thai health insurance online at longstay.tgia.org.

Moreover, as you can see, those are just COVID coverage that they themselves recommend on that website
          https://www.tipinsure.com/CovidRegional/product_detail

But if your 100 dollars also cover other diseases, you can use them for both, but I don't think that should be the standard requirement.
          100 000 Dollars COVID
          EN
          40 000 / 400000 Out-in patient
          OF
100 000 dollars that covers everything

          And W

I can agree with Cornelis, I did the same at Menzis, neatly asked for a statement in English, without an amount being mentioned, but that all costs include covid are covered. Only when my wife had to call the embassy once did she talk about it and they thought it was a good explanation, my wife didn't think it was wrong to talk about it to avoid a rejection.

Can I join Cornelis. Received CoE based on the English statement from Zilveren Kruis.
It states that the basic insurance covers (including Covid) up to 100% of the costs in the Netherlands.
The supplementary insurance – in my case – states that it covers up to 100% of the difference between the actual costs and the costs based on the Netherlands

      • RonnyLatYa says up

        Rob h, nl th,

If you read carefully, I am not talking about whether or not your health insurance policies were accepted or not, but specifically about how people describe the financial requirement, which Cornelis mentions last and which is also stated on the website of the embassy..
“Incidentally, it is about more than Covid insurance:
'Health insurance that covers full medical costs in Thailand, including COVID-19 with a minimum coverage of USD 100.000.'”

This suggests that your insurance should also cover all costs of all other diseases, but that was not originally a requirement of Thailand.

Originally and I assume this is still the case, people want to see insurance that covers COVID with a minimum amount of 100 000 dollars.
That I suspect is because the embassy itself gives you a link to insurance companies that offer insurance that also only cover that and nothing else. I suppose they will accept it and that will suffice.

And of course another insurance is also accepted that covers other diseases besides that 100 000 Dollar COVID. More is always allowed, less is not.
After all, the requirement is NOT that you have insurance that ONLY covers COVID, but insurance that covers AT LEAST COVID and this at least for an amount of 100 000 dollars.
If your health insurance complies with this, it will also be accepted.
Doesn't clearly state it's COVID and at least $100 and the embassy accepts that, that's fine. Hopefully people will also think the same way at the checkpoint upon arrival and then there will be no problem

        • en th says up

RonnyLatYa, You may be talking about that, but am I mistaken if the question is Which Dutch health insurance policies have covid coverage up to $ 100.000 or unlimited?”
          Is that accepted?

          • RonnyLatYa says up

No, but the confusion is because I thought you put it under my comment. It is not always clearly visible.

    • Ger Korat says up

The point of the 100.000 USD is that it is explicitly requested that this be stated on the insurance statement. Well, the embassy can approve the issue of a COE, but suppose you are refused at the airport or upon entry to Thailand because you do not meet the requirement of USD 100.000 entry. In Thailand people can be very strict because rules are rules and why take a risk. I'm curious how others see this, for my entry to Thailand I take out a 3 months insurance via OOM insurance for a Non Immigrant O based on family relationship, precisely because I want to be 100% sure that nothing goes wrong, it will cost me for 3 months stay based on this visa less than 400 Euro or you can arrange this via a link on the embassy website for less than 300 Euro.

Please note that the Covid requirement is set in US$ and the general health costs In/Out patient in THB!!!. Again, strange and confusing……………………………
In my opinion, the Dutch basic insurance (which is legally established and mandatory for all persons registered in NL) is more than sufficient to meet both requirements of Thai immigration. Incidentally, I emailed my health insurer CZ again yesterday to consider making their English statement a little more spacious so that it is also easier for the Thai embassy to accept it for both insurance requirements. If I have anything interesting to say about this, I'll let you know.

    Good Morning,
    I think vg does this.
I managed to do it myself (after lengthy email correspondence and the use of the complaints line) via Ditzo, part of asr insurance,
Furthermore, uncles abroad insurance also provides this, but you then pay the main price

I entered Thailand with a statement in English that my insurance covers the cost of Covid 19. This statement was completely free of charge from Anderzorg. It was a bit of a problem when I checked in to ThIland, but when I said that all costs were covered, I was able to continue.
So not $100.000 but full coverage is good too.

  6. Paul J says up

that insurance statement from a Thai insurer is fine and what do you care what other people's diseases it covers, it's just a statement that mentions Covid_19 and the minimum amount of $ 100.000.
I am well insured in Holland and also have good travel insurance and to get rid of all that bullshit I arranged this statement at AXA and I flew through it at all checks, so no hassle that the amount was not listed etc.
This is how the game should be played and it avoids a lot of irritation.

    • RonnyLatYa says up

Agree that it should not matter whether your health insurance also covers other diseases or not.
Although the description of the requirement on the website of the embassies makes it look different.

It says “Health insurance covering medical expenses in Thailand including a minimum coverage of 100,000 USD for COVID-19 (must be specifically mentioned)”
This suggests that other illnesses should also be included in the insurance, but in my opinion it was and still is not a requirement.
By the way, they themselves forward you to a link from (Thai) companies that only offer that COVID/100 Dollar, but they do not cover anything else and that should normally suffice.

    Hello dear readers,

FBTO has issued an English statement stating very clearly that Covid19 is fully covered regardless of the costs incurred abroad upon admission. Indeed, the amounts are NOT mentioned, but it has been mentioned that I am insured until December 31, 2021, because my world coverage will continue until December 31, 2021.

The Thai embassy has accepted this nicely. Saves at least 130 euros / month at AXA or another insurance company that I have seen pass by.

Good luck with all visa and CoE applications

    Rob

at AXA you pay 3 baht for 7500 months so don't understand how you got your amount
