Mochit, or sometimes written as Mo Chit or Mor Chit, is the largest bus station in Bangkok. Those who want to travel to the north or east of Thailand by (night) bus usually end up here.

You can reach this bus station by BTS Skytrain (get off at Mochit station) or by MRT subway at Chatuchak Park station, then you have to take another 10 minutes by taxi to the bus station. You can also easily travel there from Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The ride takes less than an hour and costs about 300 baht.

Once you arrive you will see dozens of bus company counters where you can buy a ticket and inquire about the departure times. There are a number of restaurants, coffee shops and 7-Eleven shops where you can buy something to eat or drink.

The buses departing from Mochit run distances between four hours to 15 hours. The prices depend on the class you choose and the distance. If you opt for a VIP bus, you will have more comfort and you will also pay more. Given the distances, you usually travel at night. A comfortable chair is nice if you want to sleep.

Recommended. Only I take a taxi from Sukumvit for 125 baht. The bus to Loei (I get off in Chum Phae) costs me 351 baht. Running time just over 7 hours. The price includes a coke and 2 cakes, as well as a ticket for a free drink at the 20-minute stop in Korat. Cup of coffee or something else also for sale on this busy stopover. There is a toilet on the bus, but that will always make do. Many toilets are available at the stopover and are also well maintained.
Always take the morning bus, because I can't sleep on a bus (or plane). Take a look outside, read a book and time flies. Good quality bus with sufficient legroom. Buy my ticket at counter 47.
One disadvantage, but for some an advantage; I am always the only farang and talking to your neighbor is not an option. I don't speak Thai and she doesn't speak English. But…… you won't hear me complaining about the transport from Mor Chit. Buses always leave on time and in the three years that I have been using them, I have never experienced a (near) accident.

We regularly take the night bus from Mochit to Kanthalak in Isaan. A quarter of a sleeping pill and my girlfriend wakes me up about seven hours later. The last time we had a bus where the backrest could be almost flat. Had a great sleep.

I have traveled several times in the past with a VIP bus from Mochit. These buses are very comfortable.

What I don't understand, however, is why the air conditioning is often so cold during a night ride. All passengers were hiding under blankets because of the cold. No doubt there must be a good reason for this.

Can anyone tell me where the same service is available for trips to the South?

Nonkelwin, buses to the south depart from Ekkamai bus station. Accessible via Skytrain Sukumvit.

Often do it "the other way around" take the bus from Korat to Morchit, leave the car in the paid parking lot of the bus station, firstly it is cheaper to go by bus and I really hate driving a car in bkk. Wonderfully relaxed in the bus and from Morchit taxi motorbike to the skytrain station it couldn't be easier, no annoyance with the car in bkk, wonderful and that for I thought 299 baht. Vice versa on the way back. Fast and super easy.

If you want to go to the North East you can also go with Nakonchaiair. Has its own bus station not far from Mochit.

      Geert,
      Indeed.
I recently also used this company from Udon to Bangkok.
Stopped at one of their premises on the way (after about 4/5 hours) and only for a few minutes.
A new, fresh driver was waiting there.
No kamikaze situations noticed on the way.
If we are to believe the video, the drivers are also checked and must take a breath test before departure.
You have the Gold and First class which only has 18 seats.
Good seats comparable to the business class in an airplane.
You sit in a tub in which the chair moves, so you are not bothered by the position of the chair of the person sitting in front, behind or next to you.

Personally I was very satisfied with it.
