The annual Vakantiebeurs in Utrecht has attracted more than 117.000 visitors in recent days. That is slightly less than last year, but according to the organization more than expected.
Travel organizations and tourist agencies from the Netherlands and abroad provide information about holiday destinations at the fair.
Visitors expect to spend an average of 3100 euros on holidays this year. Locations within Europe are a favorite, just like in recent years. Italy seems to be the most popular destination this year, followed by Spain and France.
Thailand
Among destinations outside Europe, Asia in particular scores points. Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam are the top 3 favorite countries there. North and South America can also count on many holidaymakers from the Netherlands this year.
Warning to tourists
The stock exchange was opened on Tuesday by Minister Koenders of Foreign Affairs. He warned that the Dutch should be wary during their vacation. “We live in a world where safety cannot be taken for granted,” he said.
