Not only Bangkok has a floating market, but so does Pattaya. With an area of 100.000 m² you can easily spend a day there.

The Floating Market Pattaya is divided into four regions representing the four areas of Thailand (North, Northeast, Central and South). In addition to the usual boats on the water, the market consists of many stalls, souvenir shops and a few art galleries. There is also a cultural show every afternoon.

The floating market has more than 114 shops and boats, selling authentic Thai food and specialties from all over the kingdom. You can also rent a boat and sail through the canals yourself. A walk past the hundreds of wooden houses built in the different styles of the four regions is definitely worth it.

The market is located on Sukhumvit Road, about two kilometers past Pattaya Underwater World on the way to Sattahip.
To go there you can use the Pattaya Beach Bus (with air conditioning) for only 40 Baht per ride. This shuttle bus departs every two hours and stops in Jomtien and Pattaya. For boarding locations and departure times, check the Floating Market website: www.pattayafloatingmarket.com

Opening hours: 10:00 – 23:00
Location: 451/304 Moo 12, Sukhumvit Road Pattaya

I've never been there. Next year I have to be in Pattaya and maybe a good chance to take a look there. I expect it to be more expensive than usual and a lot of farangs.

I went here twice last week to buy my last souvenirs for the home front. Nice atmosphere, and little farang. A single older man with a younger “girlfriend” (pattaya is and will always be pattaya), and for the rest a lot of thai schoolchildren and families and tourists from other asian countries. The prices are perhaps twice as cheap compared to, for example, Mike's Shopping Plaza. Most items have a price tag with a reasonable price so bargaining is not necessary in most cases, which I like shopping myself. The atmosphere there is also very good. So if you are in the area, highly recommended!

entrance free, so suitable for all Auslanders. Furthermore, it is a kind of glorified MADURODAM, nicely made but for the real Patty man extremely annoying.
