Bangkok second most visited city in the world
For international travelers, Bangkok is the second most visited city in the world after Hong Kong. This was announced on Tuesday at the World Travel Market in London, a major travel and tourism fair.
According to Euromonitor International's 'Top 100 City Destinations Ranking 2017' report, the list is dominated by 41 Asian cities and that number is expected to rise to 47 due to the impact of the increase in tourist arrivals from China.
For the past eight years, Hong Kong has held the top spot, followed by Bangkok, which overtook London in 2015. Bangkok may also knock Hong Kong out of first place. The visit to Hong Kong is declining due to tensions with China. Bangkok is increasingly focusing on (Asian) travelers who book a foreign holiday for the first time.
21,3 million tourists are expected to come to Thailand this year. London is in third place with 19,8 million.
