Thailand, the land of smiles. A holiday paradise with a huge attraction for tourists from all over the world. Year after year, more than 180.000 Dutch people leave for the 'Pearl of the East' to holiday to celebrate.

What explains the success of this special country? Why is Thailand an absolute top destination for years? Is it the ancient culture that is deeply rooted in Buddhism? Is it the beautiful white beaches with swaying palms and the azure blue sea? Or is it the always friendly and hospitable Thai population

Thai mystery: love at first sight

Virtually everyone who enters Thailand seems to have been infected by a kind of 'Thai fever' and is touched by this mystical land. Some even leave home and hearth to settle permanently on, for example, Koh Samui or Phuket. Still others come back three times a year, often because they have fallen in love with a beautiful Thai lady.

Thailand has it all

Whatever you're looking for, you'll find it Thailand. Extreme contradictions, extremes that are sometimes difficult to comprehend. Splendor and splendor, future and history, rich and poor, peace and chaos, beauty and decay, silence and noise. Once you have recovered from that, you will soon be caught by the always cheerful and relaxed atmosphere that is so characteristic of the country of Siam. The deep-rooted tradition of tolerance and respect makes Thailand feel like a warm blanket in a cold winter night. Because everything is possible and nothing is mandatory in Thailand.

I once received a bht 500 fine for driving against traffic, took my wife to the police station and the officer was also at the market with his wife selling eggs, so my wife was good at it. He said we can make riding without a helmet for baht 100, but then you have to keep buying eggs from me otherwise it won't happen, we were doubled over laughing. Another one, I was driving my car to Pattaya in a hurry and speeding, stopped but had no time to bargain so I asked, how much? He again how much you pay? I gave him 200 baht and he thank you, thank you and next time you don't have to pay because you paid for twice. And what happens I drive back a few days later and stop again for driving on the right and let it be the same officer patted me on the back and laughed and I didn't have to pay because I had already done that. More but that's too long?

My mother-in-law has more than 100 stray dogs for which she sells ceramic in Chiang mai. She comes back to Lampang and there is a police roadblock at Lamphun. She tells the police what she is doing and believe it or not the officer pulls out his wallet and gives her 100 baht. I have lived in the north for 15 years and have only had positive experiences with the police here. This may also be said.

And everyone complaining about this rotten corrupt country.
Don't you understand, Theo, that it all starts with this? The police in small with 100 baht, but the big boys in large with millions, so that the poor bugger remains poor. So you work on it yourself.

First of all, congratulations on this successful blog. I like to read it. However, just a comment: this sentence is incorrect: “What explains the success of this special country?” Must be declared with “t”. Sorry….. 🙂
