New (online) bank to transfer money to Thailand?
Dear readers,
I see that there is a new (online) bank to transfer money with even less costs than Transferwise: World Remit.
Would like people's experiences, reliability, etc.
Thanks
Regards,
Do
If you MUST transfer it, it might be better to bring cash euros. Always cheaper and more flexible.
it's about transferring, not taking it with you.
Aad, it turns out that you should read the questions or topics better. This is already the second time I see that your answer does not fit the question. Not everyone wants to carry cash. I don't either. That is why the questions are asked about the differences between institutions or ways of doing transactions, as the Germans say: Bargeldloos. Most people know that cash can be cheaper in many cases….
WorldRemit transfers money cheaply and quickly to Thailand, for example, without complicated fuss. Recommended!
Send with Wold Remit 4 or 5 times a year for years and never had any problems, after 3 days money in Thai bank can send up to 8000 € costs after years of customer 0.99 €.
Hi Wil, we have been using world remit for years and they are very reliable and have good customer service if needed.
Bank payments are in a Thai account within 3 working days, but you can also collect the money directly from all branches of the Government Savings Bank.
It is also possible to top up calling credit on a telephone via World Remit (works with AIS, DTAC and True Move).
Simulate the transfer of 1000 euros. The costs are indeed lower, but the beneficiary will receive a lot less in the end
Dear,
Since you “sit” on this blog, you have access to the internet.
A small simultaneous simulation regarding sending 1000 € to Thailand:
Transferwise: (low cost transfer) 1000 – 7.20 cost = 982.80 x 35,5796 (exchange rate) = 35.323 THB
World Remit: 1000 + 0.99 fee = 1000.99; exchange rate 34,60047 = 34.600 THB
In short: with Transferwise you receive more for 1000 € than with Worldremit for 1001 €.
You can see that fewer costs are incurred … 555
My (some) experiences with Transferwise: transparent and correct handling
Worldremit: no experience with it
there is an error to the detriment of transfer wise and the recipient must be 992.80 x exchange rate.
Hello Will
World Remit works with credit card, I used a lot, but the last time I had to send copies of ID
And to whom you send money, you will receive a code from them.
Must be given to whoever receives the money.
Back then I couldn't send money to Thailand, don't know if I can now
Will check it out, try it is fair, and if not good you will get the money back quickly
Aloysius
I have been using World Remit for a few months now to my satisfaction, but only to send money to the Philippines. I used to use Western Union but for some reason they didn't let me use it anymore maybe because I was suspected of committing fraud or something but I thought that was strange because I only sent small sums!
So that's how I ended up at World Remit and so far without any problems.
The money is on its way in a day or 2 where it was in a few minutes at WU, but that doesn't matter to me.
Does World Remit have advantages compared to an online transfer from (eg) ING bank to Thai bank account? Is it cheaper? Easier? Faster?
See the example of World Remit and TransferWise, that will not save you with an ING transfer to Thailand, because more costs and a lower exchange rate. After I transferred with ING for the first 2 years, I now do that with TransferWise. I do that at the lowest cost (bank transfer) with IDeal and I got the money last time within 4 hours, while it normally takes about 1 day.
I transferred money to my family every month. but suddenly WR demanded my ID copy. Joost may know why. I told them by telephone: I don't put any of my privacy documents on the internet.
Well, so the transfer was canceled.
They can prune the ……….
I also had to send Wise transfer a copy of my ID.
Think that is mandatory nowadays with all the black money that is laundered.
I have never used World Remit, but if I put it next to Transferwise, the latter comes out cheaper… maybe different with other amounts, but 10.000 baht via World Remit costs € 290,00 while Transferwise comes out at € 284,84 at the same time .XNUMX.
Am I missing an extra benefit of World Remit…?
Hello Frank,
I think you mean € 10000, but if I want to transfer it with the transferwise app, I will receive in Thailand
baht 353.883.24, so the costs are €53.76, which you can see immediately when you enter the amount to be transferred.
Transfer 1000€ with WorldRemit, 34600 baht to your Thai bank account. Transfer 1000€ via TransferWise, 35323 baht to your Thai account. A difference of no less than 823 baht. Don't be fooled by the €0,99 transfer fee at WorldRemit. TW still gives the best conversion rate. The choice was made quickly I would say.
Hi,
Can anyone name “facts and figures” about World Remit?
DWZ, which bank to join Dutch and or Belgian?
Please details.
I have been transferring money via Argenta for years, costs 8 euros.
Gret Josh.
you write "costs 8 euros" this is then at argenta, which work like this under "shared costs" and how much costs do you have in Thailand?
Dear Jos, About 6 years ago I also made my transfers to Thailand via Argenta. At the time, it was still carried out for free, you had to fill in a special transfer form and then my Argenta office in Belgium sent this to the head office in Antwerp, which then carried out the transfer. It was even possible to email a copy of the special transfer form in the attachment to my office in Belgium during my stay in Thailand, for money to be transferred to my Thai bank account. Now it's not free anymore.! I have been asking for 5 weeks now to calculate the full costs for making a transfer to Thailand because I have been back in Belgium since 2016 due to health problems. I have still not received an answer, neither from my office where I live nor from the head office in Antwerp. I now want to send money again via a transfer with Argenta to my family in Thailand. Please indicate to which amount you have transferred in euros the 8 euro costs will be charged. I would like to transfer 1.000 euros every month to my Thai wife's bank account, can you let me know the total costs charged for a transfer of 1.000 euros, please. I have calculated how much the costs are at Transferwise, for 1.000 euros to be transferred: Costs: 10,67 euros. at the current rate: 35,567,47 baht for 1 euro. 35.199,97 baht will then be transferred to the Thai account. With World Remit, the beneficiary only receives 34.600,47 baht in the Thai account. Difference and benefit with Transferwise: 599,5 baht. That is why I would now also like to know how much the costs are at Argenta. To make transfers with Transferwise, you only need to create an account and enter your choice of how you want to transfer money. Go to the Transferwise website and create an account.
Thanks in advance. Regards. You may also contact me via my private e-mail [email protected].
I have been transferring to Thai account via my bank for years, day after transfer already to Thai bank account. Faster is not possible, always correct.
I have been making my financial transfers to Thailand with Transferwise for over 2 years. Always in my bank account within 1 working day, super good rate and low costs. You can download the app for free. Highly recommended.
Regards and good luck Gerrit
TransferWise is good, as long as you don't send large amounts, because then it will be more expensive than the bank, just make a simulation for 10.000 euros.
Dear Jokeshake, I just did the simulation of 10000 euros and it turns out that with World Remit it costs me the equivalent of 227 euros more.
The costs are higher but the exchange rate is much better transferwise and therefore World Remit is definitely not cheaper.
Take a look at the site immediately to check it, of course, because if I can save on something, I would like to, But if I enter that I want to transfer € 10000, the recipient in Thailand will receive baht 346.004.70 and that will be converted to € But €9709.08 .
That is much more expensive than transferwise because they give a better rate and if you deduct the costs from them you will have more left over so I don't understand why I have to read here that this would be cheaper.
Is it perhaps because people are blindly staring at the costs of € 0.99, yes with transfer wise the costs are higher but I get 1 baht more for every € 10.000 baht and then it is suddenly XNUMX baht less in total.
So advise everyone to compare before transferring money, but can already say in advance that transfer wise is cheaper.
Dear Aloysius, have you ever heard of the word “to”? You invariably use “after” where you seem to mean “to”. Your messages will read a lot easier if you write them correctly. So “to” and not “after”.
Whichever method you use, it is ultimately the total cost that you have to look at and that means, among other things, that you not only have to look at the costs incurred by the transfer, but also the exchange rate that is used. Ultimately, what counts is what appears in the bank account on the other side. However ?
But some also find speed important. But how often has that actually been important? Is it really of the utmost importance that it is credited to the Thai account the same day? This can of course become important if something crosses your path that you cannot pass up. You want that money available as quickly as possible
Speed has never been an issue for me. Usually it just concerns topping up accounts, but that doesn't happen on just a few days. And if you know it will take 2 days and you want your money in that account on a certain day... then you simply complete the transaction 2 days in advance.
Personally, I am satisfied with Transferwise. I also don't think it can be much cheaper on the amounts I transfer. And even if it can be done cheaper, I don't think it will really make a big difference. But I am usually also loyal to something when I notice that I can rely on it. I have been using Transferwise for quite some time now and I notice that I can rely on Transferwise. That is also important to me and with “new” players it may still be a matter of waiting.
I used to have the money transferred via Argenta, but now for half a year via transferwise where I get more money into my account in Thailand, than with Argenta, which only charges 8 euros in Belgium, but the bank in Thailand also deducts costs from that. for receipt, which the bank charges here, plus the exchange rate is always very low!!! and at Transferwise always the highest...
So sending money via Transferwise is better than with Argenta, you receive more in your account and everyone wants that!!!
Transferwise has been the best for years when you look at the final amount in the Thai bank.
Period.
