Sam Roi Yot National Park

Sam Roy Yot National Park is one of those beautiful locations that you just can't get out of your mind once you've seen it.

It combines the best of both worlds with adventurous trails through dense jungle and deep canyons that are perfect for hiking. But surprisingly enough, you can also laze on beautiful sandy beaches.

Khao Sam Roi Yot was designated a national park in the mid-60s. The name means 'Mountain of 300 peaks,' now you immediately understand why the landscape is so varied. Special walking paths have even been created with decking through the swamp areas. These give you the opportunity to explore parts of the park that would otherwise be inaccessible. You can also book a speedboat tour in a bay. It will give you a good impression of the size of this beautiful park.

What you should definitely see is this hidden gem of the park: the Kuha Karuhas pavilion. It is located near a cave and is one of the most visited parts of Khao Sam Roi Yot.

This beautiful and relatively small nature park (98 km²) is located 63 km south of Hua Hin, in the province of Prachuab Khiri Khan.

My wife and I went here at the beginning of this year, a beautiful park and wonderfully quiet and beautiful nature.
We were with some family and friends of ours who have been living in Hua hin and Cha-am for years, but the strange thing is that few Thai people know this park or have even visited it, perhaps also because the entrance to this park for Thai people is quite pricey.
What you should definitely see when you visit this park is the Phra Nakhon cave, the two caverns in this cave even allow trees to grow within this cave.
The cave can be reached via a steep staircase if you have difficulty walking, this is not recommended, it is a climb of about thirty minutes (don't forget to bring drinking water), what I remember well and found moving is that old woman (I think well into the 90s) she sat at the beginning of the stairs and mumbled she sold tree branches that were made of walking sticks for 20 baht.

What is also very beautiful and romantic is the lotus swamp with the specially located footbridge right through the swamp. Thousands of lotus flowers grow on this swamp.
To get an even better impression of the park, it might be nice to watch the Youtube video of the famous Thai singer Bird Thongchai Mcintyre recorded his song Why Tears here, which is on You Tube under the name [MV] Bird Thongchai – Why the Tears?

It is also highly recommended to rent a boat, we paid 2000 bath for this, quite a lot of money for Thai standards, but this also has to do with the location.
But you can use this boat for half a day and visit the fishing village of Bang Pu and the various islands where monkeys also live.

    Have fun visiting this park.

We (4 people 60+) are considering visiting this park and have therefore looked for the possibilities to organize it.
That was disappointing, first of all because apart from the requested prices ranging from very high to reasonable, it was not clear what the options were.
My question: – go for fully organized, but with whom?
    – Hire a taxi from Hua Hin and organize things at the gate?
Who can help me with that?

Jan W. My husband and I have stayed in Sam Roi Yot at Long Beach Inn. Run by a Dutchman and a Thai woman. They organize trips to the National Park. Have a look at the website:

At the top are the tabs. Moreover, they serve excellent dishes.
      Regards, Marianne.

Who can also help you is “Angels Taxi service” Sam Roi Yot, Call her for a price. She will show you the whole neighborhood, because there is so much more in the immediate vicinity. Such as the Sai cave, view point Khao Daeng, view over Sam Roi Yot with its shrimp farms (can also be visited). The Lotus fields, a boat trip through the mangroves, and beautiful temples where hardly anyone comes because they don't know them, where the monkeys roam freely on the streets, the Dolphin Bay, and a little further the beautiful Khao Kalok. Everything really worth it.
You can do the PRAYA Nakhon cave by boat or by land, both worth it, make sure you have good walking shoes. Have fun

I went there in 2018. Really worth it. Steep climb to the cave and beautiful temple in the cave with open roof through which the sun's rays shine.

We were here in February 2020, highly recommended !!! With a boat through the water lilies [ tip ; go around 07.00:60 , then most lilies are open ]..Of course also done the climb to the cave ! that's a KLIM with capital letters. we did take the short route. So first with a boat to the other side of the mountain [ neatly arranged by our hotel The Long Beach Inn ] .. enough rest moments in between and then on again ... It is BEAUTIFUL !!! We are both in our XNUMX's and definitely not sports figures…! So if we can…..
We can also recommend The Long Beach Inn to everyone; only 10 rooms, nice pool, small piece of the beach and the food is 5 stars !! We had 5 wonderful days there!
Very easy to reach from Bangkok [or via Hua Hin]
