Six British women trade their daily lives for the lives of women in poor and remote communities around the world.

Like many women today, they juggle between career, home and family. Yet there is the feeling that something is missing. By spending some time in societies where female roles are very different, they hope to find the answers that can change their lives.

Jackie Davis from Bristol spends some time with the Karen, the largest hill tribe of Thailand. Divorced, with two young children, Jackie struggles with life as a single parent. She knows they need to change things, but she doesn't know how. By spending time with four female four generations of the Karen women, she learns some simple but interesting life lessons.

  1. I looked to see if I could find the entire episode, but unfortunately not. If anyone of the visitors succeeds, please send the link. Thank you in advance.

    Eating rats.
Living in the Isaan, "plate rat" is not really unique. It is very common here for a part of the population (certainly not the richest) to go out late at night on a moped, armed with a long gun or a slingshot plus a strong flashlight.

Prey are frogs, squirrels, sometimes snakes and of course rats. Rats are a delicacy for some people (and not always out of poverty).
They do not crawl and feed in the sewers (if they exist at all) and in the rubbish heaps as with us, but in the rice fields. So according to many, it's not such an unhealthy or unappetizing bite.

Caught at night, cut open in the morning and nailed broadly on a board, dried in the scorching sun during the day, sold as a delicacy on the market at the end of the afternoon. Often seen, unfortunately (?) Not yet eaten.

Matching night dish, spiced leaf fresh ant eggs fertilized and accompanied by the still living ant queen.
At the time, he hadn't kissed that girlfriend for 2 days, first after brushing his teeth and rinsing his mouth 100 times.

For some snacks here I pass, tomorrow I will go again to Mac Donald in Udon.
